US soldiers training with Gorkha regiment
A U.N. peacekeeper from India guards a former Israel position bordering the Israeli-occupied Shebaa Farms, July 14, 2008. The army moved into the position on Monday for the first time since Israeli forces left it during their withdrawal from south Lebanon in 2000. (*******)

It's most definately new, and a digital pattern
After EX Shatrujeet with the USMC, the Indian army said they were damn impressed with the Marines' uniforms. Soon after a missive was put in the press saying that the Indian Army is working on a new digital camo pattern that it would 'standardize' on
While BSF is a federal police force, from what I understand, it does have some deputed army officers, correct?
I doubt a general would go out and wear some custom camo to an official event like this
If anything is conveyed by these pics, its that the Indian army and security forces are in a midst of a major modernization program.
India is still a poor country so it has to prioritize who gets what, with Commandos, SF and SOF obviously getting first draft pick. There's probably order in the chaos of uniforms, weapons and kit seen in these photos, but it seems to me that the Indian powers that be are giving regular troops and police actively engaged in facing a certain type of danger only the most relevant certain modernized uniform/equipment for it, and not the entire uniform/kit at once.
BTW, that's an awesome picI really should start doing yoga. Inspired me to start tomorrow
Do you have any idea what specific exercise this was? I do know that soldiers from a Gorkha Rgt exercised with US Army troops in Alaska, Canada and Hawaii. But I don't remember hearing about American soldiers exercising with a Gorkha Rgt in India?
