I don't agree with the term Retired!! Abbots are quite operational in Kashmir because of their light weight and small size! The remain in small no...... (DRDO is working on a version of 105 sp on a BMP2 chassis to replace Abbots)

No my Friend !! After Kargil war 1999, Army induce new equipments, like body armor become compulsory and elite RR troops equip with communication devices, Heavy firepower like flame throwe, 84mm RCLs, Vz-58 become common in hands of Ghatak platoons...

PS. I downloaded that photo in 2004 or 05 at most !

My bad, I thought that they were gone.

DRDO ought to stop wasting money, if they want something light and mobile just buy the Russian's 2S1 122mm. God knows India is familiar with the gun, the vehicle, and has plenty of ammo in that caliber.

there's a real problem in INDIA it want to build nuclear submarine...yet we have not even mastered the production of basic weapons such as sniper rifle, heavy mg,self-propelled arty,tanks..damn it even croatia build its own stuff.
too much freedom of speech in india a local equipment is inducted in the armed forces you'll get a bunch of stooge who'll criticise it for its "inefficiency".
foreign countries when they induct new weapons in their respective army it also has problems but eventually it is weeded out.

Indian Army do use 122mm D-30 Howitzers. But Army mostly prefer to use 105mm... Thats why DRDO is working on a 105mm, Anyways Army is procuring 155mm light Self propelled Howitzers in coming future so there is no need to buy 122mm Russian's 2S1...

BTW. DRDO did show some 105 sp wheel based but Army didn't show much interest in it !

yeah they are designed to contain armour plates...but where are the armour plates...i cant see any....if there were armour plates the jacket wont have been wrinkled like that...secondly this jacket hasnt been issued by the army...it is a rain proof jacket bought from the market.

and can you prove that these guys are from the RR?

I think Navy never had any problems with new systems and indigenous hardwares ... Eg- INS delhi class and The Installation of Brahmos Missles on Rajput class destroyers ! ..... Navy is always Serious about itself compare to Airforce and Army ! .. Navy will soon cope with coming Problems with ATV !

Regarding Sniper rifles .. i dont know for sure that India do make license copy of Dragonov 7.62x54r.. But making of Vidawansak anti-material rifle was a gr8 success! ..India did make some Indigenous SP guns ( 130 m-46 mounted on Vickers mk1 Chassis) untill some 155mm replaced it ! And for Tanks yes Arjun Mk-1 was delayed but its a good tank... But Armys faith is in t-series tanks.....

PS. If army was purchasing foreign tanks... they should have consider Leopard 2 !!
