Please post all discussions and news concerning the Lebanese Army, either about the new military aids, purchases, plans, statements etc. in this thread instead of the Lebanese Army - Pictures thread.
So, when the Lebanese army will be deployed in all the Lebanese territory in order to make abide by the Lebanese laws and sovereignty to every Lebanese citizen and every bordering country?
When? Hypothetically, maybe after a coup d'etat in Lebanon, by a junta of anti-Hezbollah officers, who proceed to rid the Lebanese military of the terrorist group's supporters and ask Israel for help in disarming Hezbollah. The combined Lebanese and Israeli armed forces would be capable of handling the terrorists.
Wouldn't it be satisfying, to capture Hassan Nasrullah alive, and put him on trial for causing the 2006 war that left a thousand Lebanese dead and the country in ruins?
Better a junta in Beiruit, dedicated to peace and opposition to terrorism, than an elected government supportive of Hezbollah.
We all know it won't happen, though. I've been watching and waiting for the Lebanese to reclaim their country since the war, and it hasn't happened yet. Hezbollah is just too strong.

This is why the Lebanese army needs the support of friendly nations. A strong Lebanese army will simply make the Hezbollah influence weaker on many fronts.
But I'm against putting Nasrallah into trial unless everyone involved gets similar treatment as well. I was totally against Samir Geagea's imprisonment becaue you can't exact justice on just one person while others are treated as angels.
1- Great FINALLY they are deployed in the South after some 30 years of absence. Wow.
2- Somewhat I knew that the answer of almost any arab in this forum would exclusively treat the "Israeli issue" while evading all the rest. Please do not have the impression that I´m bothered for this line of thinking, just the opposite as long as Lebanon is an ennemy entity they can consider that the earth is flat...
3- About the LITTLE second part of my question, in your opinion is the Lebanese army asserting the sovereignty of the country and making all the civilians and sectarian factions abide by the laws?
Bravo Vatche,
I would add also that the LAF does not need the help of anyone (Israel or other), just we need modern military equipment , the one we use to have before any other force in the Middle East (in the 60ies, early 70ies).
To our Lebanese friends on the forum: what weapons systems do you believe your country most needs? Assuming the stuff would be donated or sold at friendship prices, so you can get whatever you think is needed. What are the Lebanese armed forces' most critical requirements?
I do not want a militaristic Lebanese Army equipped with a bunch of offensive weapons meant to show off to the world. The Lebanese Army's focus should be on defensive weapons with the primary mission of maintaining order in the country and defending the country from threats, both internal and external.
What you are proposing is for Lebanon to go from being a Hezbollah/Syria/Iran puppet to being an Israeli puppet. No thank you.
I want a free and independent and Lebanon. Sorry, but Israel is no ally of Lebanon and never will be.
Throughout Lebanon's history, various nations and factions including the Palestinian groups, Hezbollah (including its Syrian and Iranian backers), and Israel have brought hell to this country. Enough is enough.
Well said!
Completely agree. Either treat them all as war criminals or none as war criminals. The same standards need to be applied to everyone.
