Nice pictures. I guess that Chilean Armed Forces are well trained and prepared, at least i'm pretty sure they have best armed forces from the region, considering the armies of limitrophe countries.
We want more pics![]()
lol yes it is, it's a Boeing 707 fitted with the Elta EL/M-2075 Phalcon radar for AEW&C/SIGINT duties. The radar seems to be in pretty good shape, not that we can say the same about the airframe (a former carrier for LAN Chile)...
It's called "Condor" by the Chilean Air Force.
Some pics of the new Chilean Vipers:
This one was taken at FIDAE '08. A dirty muzzle port: this particular aircraft looks like it had been on manoeuvres involving M61A1 20mm. cannon live fire exercises prior to the event:
F-16D. The pilot is wearing the JHMCS (Joint Helmet-Mounted Cueing System), seems like... "Missiles" look like AIM-9/Python 4 captives/dummies:
A couple of photos - no longer available at the FACh official website - showing an AIM-120C captive training round loaded on a Chilean F-16:
There used to be a picture of a Chilean F-16D carrying a AN/AAQ-28 Litening II targeting pod at the FACh official website but it's no longer there anymore (taken at an exercise last year involving Chilean Vipers and American F-16s from the Texas National Guard) and I thought I had it saved to my hard drive but I can't find it... I'm looking for it so if anyone has it and could post it, I would be more than grateful![]()

Maybe is this one.
Hmmmm, not quite, but thanks anyway, it's a cool photo![]()
I was looking for the one of an F-16D Block 50 (taxying at Cerro Moreno if I'm not mistaken).
They are not FALs but SIG SG 540/542 manufactured under license in Chile by FAMAE (Fábricas y Maestranzas del Ejército), a government-owned firearms and ammunition factory.
The FAL and their variants have already been phased out of service in Chile, I believe. Pics of Chilean soldiers with FALs are older and do not represent current equipment (this one, for instance, must have been taken during the '70s or early '80s)
