I am pretty sure it was answered somewhere, but what kind of rifles are those, they look pretty to close to some kind of AK derivative.
Thanks
Finnish Valmets.
They are Finnish made Valmet m95 assault rifles. Based on Kalashnikov.Originally Posted by Vlad

Nice post.
EDIT: hmm..a bit old post, eh![]()
I'm just wondering, but isn't it so that the "M95"-assault rifle is called the "Rk95" back here?
I can understand that it would be named "M95" for export use, but shouldn't we be calling them with the correct names since for an example the "AK47" is called with the same name as it would be called in Russia.
Its not "M47" in the other countries, now is it?
Not that it would be a big deal, but...
Jane's magazine said that the RK95 is one of the best assault rifles in the world. It is very accurate even with vv-2000.
Well, this assault rifle is called 7,62mm SAKO M95 by manufacturer, but the official Finnish Defence Forces model designation is 7,62 Rk.95TP (7,62 Rynnäkkökivääri 95 Taittoperä) which means in normal language (without twice ää in one word) 7,62 x 39mm assault rifle, model 1995, folding stock. The same thing is in the USA. For example the Colt M927 has official USArmy designation M4A1 Carbine.Originally Posted by Dalleer

It's bad example. "AK47" it is Western designation of whole family of AK assault rifle (i.e. AK, AKM, AKS, AKMS etc.). It isn't name of ONE specific model and even the REAL name of any of AK family assault rifle.an example the "AK47" is called with the same name as it would be called in Russia.
Naturally, IT IS. The assault rifle called just "AK47" may have it's real name type 56 in China, AIM in Romania, AKMS in Russia and so on.Its not "M47" in the other countries, now is it?
Well, what is the AK47 called in Russia then?
Huh, which model? This is whole family based on the first 7,62mm AK assault rifle, so AK, AKS (with folding stock), AKP (with tritum sights) AKM (modernized version), AKMS (modernized with folding stock) etc. Sometimes the very first AK model is called "AK47".Originally Posted by Dalleer

Very well, this seems to cover it.
Valmet/SAKO rifles have long been looked upon as the Roll-Royce's of AK clones. They are also the basis for the Galil (and all of its clones), with the original Galil protos being built on machinery bought from Finland.Jane's magazine said that the RK95 is one of the best assault rifles in the world. One could probably use the car manufacturer metaphor to describe all the levels of quality when it comes to AK clones...with Type 56-1s perhaps being compared to old VW production, and the AMD perhaps looking a lot like the Buick of the AK world.
Ekhm... excuse me, but this metaphor is for me utterly incomprehensible. There's only a few Buick here in Europe, and Hungarian AMD isn't so rareOriginally Posted by thatguy96
