Welcome on board. We have another mod here who has a wood chipper, I got a post hole digger, we both have really neat daughters and some times need help.![]()
Serious note, I do a little machine work and welding too. Visit the equipment section, we have some good thread on building firearms.
Hi...Older than dirt female here (ok, perhaps pleasantly middle aged might sound better, still, I could probably be a lot of folks' momma on here). Just an average person trying to make their way in the world. Do have a somewhat military background and a military family.
I'm from hillbilly land -- which isn't really that bad imho -- and a farm girl of sorts. I work on a farm now, matter of fact.
However, I used to be an adjunct professor of literature and rhetoric, taught ESL, and had an interest in philology...and I have a thing for tv shows on all things scientific. So there's my geek credentials.
A female. Hi UJB.

Hey,
i am 20, just finished school and will spend some time in the German Army soon.
I follow the Today's Photos-Threads for quite some time now, great work!
Hi, do you have a big pick up truck
Sounds interesting though. Where is hill billy land? Why not post some photo's of where you work? There's a post a photo you have taken thread. I'm always curious about where people live and what it's like there etc. I grew up on a farm (in Ireland) too, was brilliant / awful. Also not military myself but father was in reserves, went to join reserves myself but heard from college first so that's where I went.

Yes, it's big, it's red, and it's 13 yo. and right now it appears to have a busted oil pump (husband's getting under the hood as I type). We used to own two, but got rid of the old beater. We also own a Subaru with all our Army and Marine stickers on it -- it's good for some laughs on the interstate when they see the back of it.
Hillbillyland is larger than a lot of people think, but my little segment of it is in southern IL. Yes, we hunt, fish, and I have been frog gigging many times. I'm not into NASCAR though (although I know many wonderful, fun people who are...there's a local dirt track 5 miles from my house). I know people who live in trailer parks -- one of whom, a very nice lady with a beehive who makes excellent strawberry pies, can quote every work of Shakespeare from memory...she could put a PhD to shame with that (she likes Shakespeare).
I can't post pictures of where I work due to security reasons: yes, farms are that high tech, at least the really big ones are. I'm not even really comfortable posting pictures of my family online, but if you're nice maybe I'll share a few, the woods are really getting pretty this time of year. I used to have a small bit of livestock at home, but had to sell out -- zoning laws (a lot of the town "elites" would like to pretend they live someplace more "civilized"...like Chicago!).
One of my mom's close friends was a lady from Ireland. Funny how she wound up all the way out here.
