Canadian soldiers of NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) secure the site of a suicide bomb attack a Canadian military convoy in Kandahar, southern Afghanistan, 12 March 2008. A suicide attacker detonated his explosives-filled vehicle targeted at a Canadian military convoy killing an Afghan civilian and wounding four others, including a Canadian soldier, officials said. Around 2, 700 Canadian forces are stationed in the southern province of Kandahar, a strong-hold for Taliban militants, whose government was toppled in late 2001.

A sniper from the 3rd Battalion, Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry (3 PPCLI) Battle Group demonstrates the fine art of vanishing into the landscape with his Parker-Hale C3A1 rifle. The 3 PPCLI Battle Group is deployed in Afghanistan on Operation APOLLO, Canada's military contribution to the international campaign against terrorism

What is this? Some sort of pattern that shows up in night-sights as to rank, or unit attachment?
The patch are visible from the Sky and ground against friendly fire during night patrol...like in 2002 where American killed 4 canadian soldiers and wounded 16 ,and in 2005 when Canada call A-10 air strike they kill one canadian and wounded 32. The supreme forces kill and wound lot of people since 2001, this is for why Canada and allies have a new patch, and note you can see "Medical" "TCCC" and "MP" patch..this is a new kit for "Future Soldiers".
