Well, I bought a NY Post earlier and some grub. I read and chowed down.
Actually i retract what I said. i don't know maybe you ride that bike hard. Who knows?
I live in the mecca of hipsters so I see all kinds of garbage old ass bicycles being sold for hundreds of dollars. The components are **** and uncomfortable to use as a daily mode of transportation as NYC hipsters use these bikes.
My point was that, if you are using it for a daily quick go around the town mode of transportation you are better off buying low end road bike (sub $500). Because it will be lighter, newer and better components that will make your ride more pleasant.
I bought a cheapo bicycle at Walmart once. It was ****. No argument there.
I bought some hybrid/crossover Schwinn for $300 from Sports Authority. Sure the components weren't top of the line. They were some Shimmano stuff. But the bike was made from aluminium which made it a super practical bike for a daily commute to the city (17 miles in a whole day).
I might have went out on a limb here and assumed that you were a ridiculous hipster buying old garbage for the sake of being "cool and trendy". Who knows maybe you are. If you aren't then my bad.
Fine. I will concede. I can understand that.
I like old UJM motorcycles from the 70s and 80s. I had a '78 CB400. I loved that bike. So fun to zip around the city. Sold it to a hipster for $2500, mind you I bought it for $500 few months earlier.
I can understand liking them from aesthetic point of view. But from practical and performance wise. It makes no sense.
I can understand that. I live in the Mecca of wannabe hipsters and cool kids. Yeah, I hate them too. Most of them can't ride worth a damn. Almost everyone has a "fixie" here, but that wasn't the case 3 years ago, when it started becoming popular.
I started out with a used baseline model Motobecane 5 years ago that I got for $500. The frame was really nice, but everything else was basic, and as part of the learning process I quickly tore through everything, and replaced it with low end stuff, then tore through that. After a year I started investing in higher end components, some of which I still have. For me, older frames are better for reasons I've mentioned above, at least in my opinion. High end components on a sturdy frame are all that matter to me, because when it comes down to it, it's usually the crankset and wheels that take the brunt of the harsh treatment, especially in LA where the roads are crappy and hills are common.
Now worries bro. We all hate hipsters, and we found something we can agree upon.
"SECURITY" hat for work.
New copy of starship troopers. mine fell apart.
Motorola Photon 4G
I've never had a smart phone and my upgrade on sprint just came up. Somehow had a large credit for accessories I was unaware of, got an otter case and then put the rest towards the already discounted phone. Enjoying it a lot so far, want to look into rooting it for something like ICS.
and a bunch of comics.
An I7-3820 to fill in until Ivybridge-e.
