It seems serial SPYDER doesn't have missiles in boxes, but directly on launching rails.

throw Spyder's capabilities out the window now that Russia has a hold of it
everything about it will be thrown to Russia's Arab pals and they will obviously develop something that will succeed over it

    Very interesting.

If it is a Russian Trophy now, why hasn't it been plastered all over the internet like those liberated US Hummers?

Was it that big of a coup to keep the news back and are Georgians really that inept to allow something like this to be taken in one piece?

I'm inclined to agree and looking for confirmation of Spyder AA capture.

If true then hopefully they didn't get hold of the command and control unit (not shown in the photos).

I think Georgia did a very big damage to NATO and western equipment and tactics. In first days of war Georgia have big advantage in quality and in larger numbers of soldiers and equipment against russian army, which fight in South Ossetia. Georgians have some NATO / western weapons and equipment and some russian weapons. But even russian equipment, which they get from Ukraine, were equal to NATO equipment. T-72 tanks have standard soviet armor + ERA armor, what made them equal to older versions of Abrams and Leopard tanks. They have standard soviet ammo. But comparing to the russian T-72 tanks, they have modern israeli FCS with thermal sights, better western communications and they were integrated in C4I network. All georgian army work by western strategy and tactics and all units were integrated in C4I network. They even use US satellite network in this war. With all this trophies, specially with communications and C4I systems, russians get really deep look inside NATO communications and command and control C4I network for ground units and for air defense. I think Iran, China, North Korea and others would pay in gold to get this very important informations. This war bring to russian army big profit in equipment in quantity and in quality.

What were good results? Spyder didn't shot down any plane and georgian army lost the war in few days even against weaker opponent.

The first fact in your sentence is a lie and second,..hmm, i could say many things about Russian army, but i would call it a "weaker opponent" next to a Georgian one...

wait a second, kaasmaalane, but where was it known, who saw those "good results", and who, except media, can prove, that those results existed at all?

As for part, that it's still unclear, that some SPYDER units were captured by Russian Army, I'm totally agree with you. Pictures proved nothing - no russian soldiers in pictures, etc.

Well, phrase "good result" was of course my personel option, if you belive, then you belive, if not, then not.
Let's say, more then one or two different sourses, plus open media,...it looks that "Spyder" managed several successful hits, other hand "Osa"-s didn't maneged single one...
But again, i have no "mediaprove", like photos or video of Pyton-5 missile hitting planes, and i'm sure, noone has......so if you don't belive, well, it is your right...

heheheh!! Interesting how everyone seem to think the minute, russians have captures weapons system, it would go straight to the Arabs or North Korea. U think russians are that stupid?? They are really very clever business people. They would use these to develop their own weapons system/improve them or develop counter measures and these would be "sold" to whoever has money!! BTW the spyder uses the previous generation python technology which the russians probably already have.

written word our days proves nothing, so you should not believe every word on any militarist forum or DELFI-like news website. Videos or pictures can't prove anything either, because you can turn given info at any needed angle. Your personal opinion... well, that's strong, mate...

I didn't say Russians will sell them, but that this counties could be ready to pay with gold to get a look inside. These are high value informations.

In first days of war in South Ossetia russian army was smaller and weaker to georgian army. Only in last days russians could get through tunnel enough units to have larger and stronger army in battlefield and in that time georgian army already colapsed. You can't get through tunnel big army quickly, specially if there are civilians in opposite way.

Well as long as we are not getting carried away. Yeah, the Russian need Israel to teach them how to build SAMs or to sell them to the Arabs. Russian SA-2 destroyed a quarter of the IAF in the Yom Kippur war before Israel even new what a SAM was. Alot of the capabilities in those systems are based on very, very complex algorithem that are encrypthed by very very complex algorithems. By the time they crack them there will be Pythons 16s in service.

To all the others that think that Georgian forces out number the Russian or were even favourites, this is like expresing shock that Ryan Seacrest lost a fight to Mike Tyson.
The Russian 58 army by it self is like 4 times larger then the Georgian army and its rusty 5 ground attack jets.
