Nope that was the one that was shot down by Ossetian triple A (Ossetians thought it was Georgian), Pilot ejected but they shot him as well. Rest In Peace.

All my sources point to him receiving a MANPAD hit from a Georgian weapon on the left engine, then flying back over Tskinval it received a second hit that took out the right engine as well. Pilot bailed, was picked up by helicopter. Soon after Ossetians started claiming they shot down Georgian Su-25, leading to people thinking it was SO MANPAD that took it down.

The only Su-25 that the Georgians shot down was by radar guided missile, and the pilot did not survive.

Have not heard any conlcusive evidence about the Russian pilot being shot by Ossetians though.

Guess not, was a confusing situation considering the similar equipment used to say the least. I think air-ground coordination and especially IFF will be a big priority after the war.

It seems as if half the combat losses of the RuAf were due to "FF" of some form or another.

I thought I heard of a downed Russian Su 25 by Ossetian tripple A, the pilot bailed but was shot by the Ossetians who thought the plane was Georgian.

But of course you know more about the Russian Army then I do.

I also heard of that rumor, don't know if it was ever confirmed though.

Btw, we must thank people like RuLavan for this info, otherwise I would have a picture of the losses only as presented by say Ria novosti.

No, he is alive and well Oleg Terebunskiy was fired upon when descending with parachute but they missed him. On ground he of course was quickly identified as friendly pilot.

BTW, full version of my article for MDB about Russian air losses is now available online, but in Russian.

It's amazing that the jews would arm a vicious and aggressive regime like Saakashvili's, I hope they have learned their lesson but maybe Russia should send Iran a few S-400 batteries to just make a point.

You have a problem with Jews? What does ethnicity have to do with who sells arms to who?

The Israeli's are Jews, and yes I have a problem with the Jews selling arms to rogue states like Georgia, if the Arabs were doing it they would be called out by me as well.

Would it surprise you that GASP... not all Israelis are jewish???

Glad to know that Israel is the only country that sells arms to questionable regimes.

and not all Iranians are muslim, but Israel is a Jewish state, no-one should sell arms to regimes like Saakashvili's, that goes to the US and Ukraine as well, but I thought the Jews would have better sense than this especially since if they don't want Moscow giving Israel the same treatment by arming Iran with S-400.
