Ok, however, are they allowed to choose their own kit? I know everyone always Special Operations can pick whatever they want, but what are the parameters when it comes to MARSOC/ Recon?

Dude, you answered your own question already by pointing out gear from HSGI, you need to think, well I know this isn't issued kit. So they must be able to wear other rigs, you should also take this to the airsoft section where there are thousands of children ready to answer these questions.

There's a new gallery of MARSOC-pics over at DVIDS, maybe someone with an account could upload the hi-res images without the watermarks?
    Would be greatly appreciated!

No, the ones I'm referring to were uploaded at DVIDS on 18th April, they've haven't been posted on the US SOF thread yet. And I know that the account there is free, just don't want to share my e-mail & other infos with everybody on the net...

Smart for the guys advising Afghan forces to be dressed in the woodland pattern to blend in with them so as not to stand out and scream "American" to every idiot with an AK47 laying in wait.
