On 23 October 1989,the Republic of Hungary declared her independence ending the Soviet occupation of Hungary that began in 1945.In 1990,when the communist regime was replaced,all red stars were removed from Hungarian military badges.After 2 temporary designs issues - 1 in metal ( 1990 - September 1991 ) and 1 in cloth ( 1991 - 1993 ) plus several rejected prototypes,this design was finally approved in March 1993.This badge has the standard Hungarian two vertical thin metal bars on the reverse that bend inward to fasten the badge to the uniform.
Nationalist Chinese ( Taiwan ) parachutist badge used from about 1950 - 1954.Beginning in 1945,the chinese Nationalist led by Chiang Kai-shek and the chinese Communists led by Mao Tse-tung fought a civil war for 4 years.On 8 December 1949,the Nationalist Government fled across the sea to Taiwan and established Nationalist China.The former paratroopers of mainland china now in Taiwan added a " sun " to the parachute lines of the old parachutist badge with horizontal wings to distinguish it from the old badge.The badge is made of lightweight metal and has 2 screw posts on the reverse with 2 distinctive round nut fasteners.Bragg & Turner # 183
