This isn't a military parachute wing but a lapel pin of GQ Parachutes Ltd.GQ Parachutes Ltd. is named for it's founder, Sir Geoffery Quilter, largley responsible for the design of the the modern bag-packed, static-line parachute first known as the 'Statichute'.The 'Statichute' was the the basis of the 'X' type parachute used by British Airborne Force during WW2 and into the 50's.
GQ Parachutes also had the company logo incorporated into a patch which was stitched next to the chest strap of it's 'chutes. These were sometimes removed by RAF Safety Equipment Fitters as the 'chutes were received into service from the manufacturer or during packing/maintenance.
The lapel pins were company promotional items given to clients/potential clients and were also worn by GQ staff. The other UK parachute manufacturer, Irvin, also had parachute lapel pins using it's company logo. For a time, Irvin's reps used to give them out to successful students on Basic Para. Courses at No. 1 PTS.Both companies have since merged and later, with others, formed 'Airborne Systems'

Yes, they do.In the Smokejumper community they're called called 'pins' rather than 'wings' . Incredibly rare in collectors' hands, all are serial numbered (at the back) and highly coveted by the Smokejumpers who have them.
The two US federal Agencies that have smokejumper programmes; namely, US Dept of Agriculture Forest Service and US Dept of Interior-Bureau of Land Management both have their own distinctive pins.
In addition to the qualification pins, some smokejumper bases have had limited issues of 'comemoratives' (eg. Missoula Smokejumper Base 50th anniversary pin) that look similar to the qual. pins and are sometimes mistaken for them. These are fairly common in collector circles.

    Hope this helps.
