Cool!! So it will fly this year??
If the engines work, then yes. If the new engines don't, then no.
What most people like to think is the Avionics and Radar and all the jaz is not ready, and that they where only working on the airframe in this period. No. The Radar is apparently ready, so is the avionics (as they where tested with SU-35BM). Engines on the other hand, are the major problem as to why they don't have a PAK FA flying yet.
Some new info. It indeed did ground tests today, but there won't be any pictures until first flight T_T'
I kind of agree with 2495.. this thread is kinda of ridiculous, Russia just don't have the capacity/resources anymore for such projects..
Yeah, like USA has the money. But hey, who cares right? I mean, Russia cannot produce new planes (oops, sorry, did not realise that SU-47 was a new testbed, or SU-35BM, or Mig-35). And hey, they cannot afford such new weapons. Oops, must have forgotten about SU-34's and T-90's.
Face it, they already supplied 20B for the project. If I must put it into simpler terms for you, they have already spent $20 Billion on this project. I doubt a project taking concepts from two previous projects (Mig 1.14 and SU-47 Berkut), would cost $20B. And maybe for you and your fantasy land, they would not be able to afford 20 Billion. But in reality, 20 Billion is peanuts for them.
