The M1A1 Tank Factory outside Cairo in Helwan is one of the largest military manufacturing facilities in this part of the world.

At the same time to Egypt it was refused in the armor, prepared with theapplication of depleted uranium.
in accordance with this document Egypt obtains access to the American military technology and information taking into account the laws existing in the USA.

First EAPU's, but in this position many of them were damaged after driving in rough terrain so later there were changed to be mounted in back of turret.

Ok, but all export M1 variants doesen't use DU in their armor, they use so called export armor packadge, as i said in best case all Arab M1's are protected as good as M1A1HA from 1987, in worse case as M1IP/M1A1 from 1984/85. I suppose that they are protected ass good as M1A1HA so 660-680mm RHAe vs. KE on front turret so it is more than enough to anything in ME, only Israeli Merkava Mk.3A/B/C/D and Mk.4A/B are real threat, and eventualy T-90SA from Algeria, in comparision now the most widespread used vairants in USA, M1A1HA+ and M1A1HC are 880-900mm RHAe vs. KE on front turret.

All produced M1 tanks, US, Arab countries, Australian use AGT-1500C GT engine, there were test in 90 on M1A2 with GD-833 (licence MB-833 EuroPowerPack) Diesel, it is one of the proposed engines to replace AGT-1500C, other are new LV-100-5 GT and AVDS-1790 upgraded to generate 1500HP.

??? So in assembly line in Factory 200 Egyptian M1A1's are in OD pattern? Not much sense to me, but maybe parts that goes from US to Egypt are in OD.
