Official: Iraqi refugees to be resettled in Fla.
MIAMI (AP) -- A United Nations official says many Iraqi refugees will be resettled in Florida and around the nation.
Larry Yungk, a U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees senior resettlement officer, made the comments at a conference Thursday. He says Iraqis displaced by the war are among new groups of refugees who will increasingly be resettled in Florida and in the U.S.
The U.N. has referred more than 42,000 Iraqis for resettlement in the U.S. Of them, 15,000 have already arrived.
Florida resettles 25,000 to 28,000 refugees annually, three times more than any other state.
The majority are placed in South Florida.
The Miami conference was attended by case workers, educators and social service providers for refugees.

Seriously WTF. im going to be flooded!
im seriously a minority here.

That's an insane amount of people to be letting in. How about they stay in Iraq and try to build their own country?
In these economic times, America doesn't need 42k extra people on social security.
Maybe because the US has only received a fraction of Iraqi refugees compared to most other Western Nations.

About 9,000 Iraqis made it to Sweden in 2006 - almost half of the 22,000 who sought asylum in the entire industrialized world. This year, when the United States has promised to take in 7,000 Iraqis, around 20,000 are expected to seek asylum in Sweden.About time for the US to take it's fair share.A May 25, 2007 article notes that in the past seven months only 69 people from Iraq have been granted refugee status in the United States.[28] In fiscal year 2006, just 202 refugees from Iraq were allowed to resettle in the United States.[29][30] As a result of growing international pressure, on June 1, 2007 the Bush administration said it was ready to admit 7,000 Iraqi refugees who had helped the coalition since the invasion. In 2006, 1.27 million immigrants were granted legal permanent residence in the U.S., including 70,000 refugees.[31] According to Washington based Refugees International the U.S. has admitted fewer than 800 Iraqi refugees since the invasion, Sweden had accepted 18,000 and Australia almost 6,000.[32] As many as 110,000 Iraqis could be targeted as collaborators because of their work for coalition forces.
It's a tough choice, but I'm sure the average "America hater" would try go somewhere else, while the fundamentalist "America hating" terrorist, would try to sneak in.
Note though, that a lot of the "true" terrorist types, don't only hate America, they pretty much hate anything that doesn't follow their values, so it doesn't really matter where you put them.
You break it you bought it. And stop bitching about being a minority.
I think the worst thing you can do (with immigrants from any country) is to put them all in one place, you're basically creating a Ghetto.
I think it's either Switzerland or Austria that has regulations on where immigrants are housed, to integrate them into society.
45k people from any nation into Miami sounds very odd. How in the hell will they afford living there? Why didn’t the government send them someplace where the cost of living is easier and disposable income easier to attain? Heck, Orlando has that gigantic, three year old shake and bake suburb that’s practically a ghost town. It could absorb twice the 45k people no problem and they’d have real homes to boot.
Do Iraqi’s like swamps, golf and retiree’s as neighbors?![]()
