Don't remember that happening at all myself - neither the 'poncing around', nor the 'stressed locals'!

Thanks in paticular for the pictures of the Husky, without doubt the best looking new vehicle the MOD has bought.....

A 'de-tooled' civilian version would be an awesome thing to drive...

Just hope its protection levels match its cool looks...

Royal Navy Submarine HMS Triumph Enters HMNB Clyde by Defence Images, on Flickr
Royal Navy Submarine HMS Triumph Enters HMNB Clyde

Trafalgar Class submarine SSN (Ship Submersible Nuclear) HMS Triumph, glides into HM Naval Base Clyde in the early morning sun following a patrol.
The Triumph of today is somewhat different from her predecessors. Built by VSEL at Barrow-in-Furness, she was commissioned in October 1991 and is the seventh and last of the Trafalgar class. Since commissioning, the submarine has completed a number of notable patrols from the North Atlantic to the Far East.
Between 2005 and 2009, Triumph went through a long overhaul period to refuel the reactor, complete essential maintenance and repairs. During this long overhaul period, the vessel's equipment and sensors were upgraded to make her one of the most potent and advanced submarines in the flotilla.

International Trucks used to do a civvy version called the International MXT, frankly it looked gopping.

Besides the lack of a gash-looking chrome grille I dunno what exactly makes Husky look better, but it does.

I'm told that some of the Huskys are being kitted out with armoured dog boxes on the back for MWDs

Given the so called defence review the caption: "Sun Sets on Royal Navy" might equally appropriate

With CVF now to be completed in Scotland just 'Triumph on the Clyde' will do, won't it?

Or at least a 'New Dawn for Defence....'

How about "Totally fvcked over on the Moray Firth" for another story, or "Harriers trashed by the Tories"?

Yes, I feel very good about the carriers and that is very personal due to family is Glasgow. I do feel a bit red faced at the idea of carriers without planes... but who knows the priorities may change.
