Hello,
Just wondering what is the powerful enough truck used by Swedish army to transport the heavy Strv122 ?
Any idea, any pics ?
Thanks in advance.
Cheers,
Richard
Scania.

The whole rig weighs about a hundred tonnes with a Strv 122 on. Quite impressive. We have one company for tank transport. Their trained at P4, Skaraborgs regemente in Skövde, central Sweden. http://www.mil.se/sv/I-Sverige/Utbil...regemente-P-4/
Aside from weight, i'd suspect vehicle width is also an issue.
Btw, funny that a French guy (?) is asking because the French bought ... Scania too .. so did Belgium. The url says 120t max load.
Sub rescue vehicle for Swedish navy on a private hauler... it's not too uncommon some of the tanks get moved by private contractors either.

Hi,
Thanks for the pics.
France bought Scania ? You got a scoop then![]()
The standard Franch (Leclerc) tank transporter is the Renault TRM 700 series : http://img248.imageshack.us/img248/4240/pict0982ct1.jpg
But the belgians do speak french too and they got Leo 1...
BTW, thanks again the nice pics.
Cheers,
Richard
According to Jane's France also have them, so no scoop there...
Also, I guess they could haul other things around than (Leclerc) tanks?
http://www.janes.com/articles/Janes-...ck-Sweden.htmlIn addition to Sweden, the Scania T144 GB6x4NZ 530 tractor truck is also used by Belgium and France.

Don't ask me what they are used for....

Scania to supply French army
Scania is to become the first foreign supplier of vehicles to the French defence authorities. The Scania heavy tractor was displayed for the first time in French army livery at this year's well-attended Eurosatory 2000 military trade show in Paris. The initial delivery will consist of a batch of twelve trucks.
The vehicle is of the same type as the Scania T144 CA6x4, a bonneted tractor designed for construction site applications, which Scania has already supplied to the Swedish Defence Forces. In addition, the Belgian army will take delivery of the first of a total of 26 tank haulers on order at a ceremony in Brussels this week.
The vehicle is built for train weights of up to 124 tonnes.
The French trucks will be equipped with the Scania GRS900 gearbox with a total of 14 speeds, including two crawler ratios.
Also these things... the press release mentions the first order too:

Scania secures French military order
300 trucks to be produced in Angers
“This is an important order,” comments Marc Haezenberghe, President of Scania France. ”Scania already has a firm presence in the French military sector, for instance with our delivery of heavy tractors to the army in recent years.”
“The order marks the first time the French army buys vehicles in the heavy segment, 16 tons and above, totally based on Scania´s ordinary modularised product range. The 300 chassis from Scania will be equipped with stainless steel tanks from the French Lafon Group.”
Hello guys,
I thought I mentioned I was talkin' bout tank transporters and did not even mention it clearly enough, sorry for that.
Thanks for the info anyway, for I did not know we french bought Scania trucks.

Richard
