The real people who are hurting in the Western world are the middle class. The poorer lowest class already live on welfare payments, subsidized housing complexes. Miami, Chicago, LA and New York are full of these complexes. The same thing goes on in London, Amsterdam and Berlin. I remember seeing photograph of a sign in an American restaurant: "I work hard because millions on welfare depend on me."
Have you ever actually been to a housing project in the United States? Most people would hardly consider it "living" if they had to stay in one of these places. And most of our lower class don't actually live in them.
The area I live in is lower class by accepted standards, and people most definitely are hurting here.
If you are poor in America or Western Europe, the government takes care of you. Millions live on subsidized housing, welfare, food stamps, have 5 kids and collect more welfare. It is a worry free life. The middle class has to pay for their food, houses, cars, and bills. In reality in this world wide economic crisis, its much more beneficial to be poor than risk having your house foreclosed, losing your job.
Have you ever seen subsidized housing? My guess is you come from a priviledged life.
I didn't know that mold, water damage, electrical problems, heating problems, drug-addicted and mentally ill neighbours, and high crime rates were "worry free".
