    Weapons of Guards of Honour

    Hi Everybody,

I would appreciate it greatly if you could share with me your knowledge regarding rifles traditionally used by soldiers of guards of honour in different countries. Thanks.

I'll be glad to answer for Austria. We mainly used an FN FAL copy, the Stg 58 (Sturmgewehr 58). In addition to that we had some M1 Carbines left over from WW2 which were used on special occasions.

    Stg. 58

In Finland the RK95 is used. As a curiosity Nato standard bayonnets are fixed.

Also, not guard of honour, but the Finnish rifle drill squad uses chrome plated RK62's with short magazines.

Good point. I have no idea if CG will keep the A1s when the reserves get their A2s. It might be designated a ceremonial weapon???

Don't forget the Picklaube too. Why does the Swedish Mauser profile look like an Enfield; the barrel doesn't protrude at all? Maybe it's just the angle.
