The lates rumors are suggesting that these CG's are very close to the real J-20/J-XX:

and here the WS-15 engine, that is said to have been completed this year (although the prototype will most probably fly with the WS-10).

in other news; a clearer and bigger picture of the ZTZ-99A2 turret has surfaced on the chinese internet:

it's wider than that before and we can see more details and contents beside the turret. like that ZTZ-99A1 turret in the right background, that couldnt been seen before.

And something that wasnt mentioned here; the first pictures of the QBZ-95G.
finally a more ergonomical thumb selector and reworked gas-regulator switch.

although I'm a bit dissapointed by it, since I expected at least some more tacticool rails and stuff...
but at least the horribly placed safety was reworked - good enough, I guess.

Not 89 years. June of Year 1989 should be correct translation.

That's why rumours should always be treated with a grain of salt - there's obviously been way too much hype, seeing how similar this updated gun is to the original.

I'm guessing that in order to put Picatinny rails on the QBZ, the developers have to pay for the patent (which is probably very expensive, being a foreign American product afterall). The investment would be well worth it though, because as it stands PLA infantry are at a disadvantage against their more modern contemporaries - modern optics (red dots, ACOGs, or whatever) will beat relying on iron sights any day, especially the reputedly crappy ones on this rifle. The carrying handle is not an ideal setup for mounting stuff either - profile is way too high (there's pics of EOtech mounted QBZ's circulating the net, so you'll see what I mean).

Anyway, I'm more concerned about the PLA's lack of personal body armour for their troops than anything, as it puts their "numbers" advantage to moot on today's battlefield.

Cool updates btw, keep it up.
