Who cut the ass of J-10B's jet engine to short ??? =P

I know nothing about jet engine, just heard the ppl in Chinese-language military forums warmly discuss domestic jet engine, anyway by the image it looks shorter than original Russia AL-31 jet engine.

    Thanks Yu1980 very much !
I have a question,i remember recently Russian news reported China ordered another 130+ Al-31FN jet engines from Russia, cost more than 1.5 billion dollars.
Is it true ??? To install on future J-10B fighters? By the latest J-10B photos,i mean it looks the WS-10(涡扇-10 / 太行-10) jet engine might be successful,so i can't understand why PLAAF still order so many jet engines from Russia,to replace old engines ? Or whether Russia official had permited China to export domestic J-10A fighter to foreign countries with Russia jet engines?

Yes, it's true. More accurately, China has ordered 123 engines for ~ $ 500 million.

First, test J-10B with Chinese engines takes time. Second, indeed need new engines to replace the old ones. + Very possibly China now produces not enough engines for the simultaneous production of J-11B, J-15 and J-10 and all chinese engines go to SAC for production J-11B and J-15.

I have another question about Russia AL-31 jet engine export.I ever heard some news said Russia could sell the production license of Russia AL-31F jet engine to foreign, both of China and Russia governments had discussed the deal before. Is that true ?

It was rumored that China in the late 1990s wanted to purchase a license for the AL-31, but Russia has refused to transfer the technology. After that, this theme is no longer discussed at the talks, and China concentrated on developing its own engine. China now has a ready WS-10, whose production will increase and there is no need to buy a license for the AL-31FN.

Ths Yu1980 again. Ur information from Russia side is useful, solve my previous question.
(Maybe also rumors.)Other ppl told me Russia jet engineers ever visited China "LiMing(黎明)" jet engine manufacture corporation, and saw WS-10 core eninge they said there was some relationship between WS-10 and AL-31FN, 70% as similar as Russia AL-31FN. That was what i heard from domestic military forums.

The characteristics of the core WS-10 is more like an American engine F110. This confirms rumors that the engine WS-10 started to be developed on the basis of studying the core engine CFM-56, imported from the US. in the 80s. But then, in the 90s in the development of the engine apparently used the data obtained by studying the russian AL-31F
