China hope they can still have the old Mig-15 in working order for the air show, because they never produce them. The production of Mig-17 stopped at 1960's, and its hard to find parts today, some of the twin seat JJ-5 are kept in airworthy condition for air shows. The last JJ-5 retired on June, 12 2009. If you read Chinese, here is the link http://www.hangkongnet.com/2009/1126/3374.html

All in all, its more expensive to kept the old bird in active service then change to newer models.
