Nice shot of a Company, parking on red dust... ah, reminds me of home.

clearly to see: A command vehicle based on the ZBD-04 Chassis.

the up-armoured variant's chassis? - folks rumor that the weight is approaching 20 tons - so might be as well protected as the bradley, although I still have my doubts about the usefulness of such a heavy IFV...

And last: Trying out a new turret armed with what appears to be two HJ-8 ATGMs and 2A72-styled 30mm Autocannon

China simply has too f*cking many variants of APCs, IFVs and ICVs etc...

logistical nightmare, or just transition-phase? this is the question...

EDIT: found more on CDF - it really seems to be an up-armoured variant of the ZBD-04... dont mind the guys, they are Airsoft-gamers apparently - with good connection.

Transition most likely, most of the vehicles have not been ordered in massive amounts, then again enough have been ordered, that couple with the number of types, logistical nightmare may very well be a correct discription.

Anwyays nice pics of the vehicles in the field, much more intersting than sterile parade photos.

20 tons? What Bradley then You have in mind My friend?

M2A3 weights a bit more than 30 tons, M2A2 ODS/ODS-E about 28-30 tons, something like that, and more with ERA.

And about usefulness of such heavy IFV's, well it depends on terrain where they operate.

Well for Me, China makes one big mistake, Your country have more equipment and soldiers than it really needs, with reduction, huge reductions, Chinese armed forces should be in optimal numbers, and quiet modern in 80-90% maybe even more, now Your country land forces are in fact forced to be equiped with let say ZTZ-59 series that are no match to any modern MBT... heh M60A3TTS is an dangerous foe to them.

But I must say one thing, Up-armored ZBD-04 have a nice design.

m60a3 can be a vaguely dangerous foe to many vehicles around the world, with modern 105mm ammo

Ofc in terms of protection anything vaguely modern will go through it like crap through a goose.

    edit:

geeze, some airsofters, I will admit I am a bit jealous and I dont even airsoft.
Uparmored variant looks slick, probably makes 12.7mm protection at 100 meters or so with AP ammo, and complete protection from any small arms. Would be nice if it was placed to give some standoff protection from older RPG variants as well, but you can't have everything oh well.

Why? Cant you play airsoft in Japan? IIRC it's fully legal there - not like China, where we have to bribe Chengguan's to let us use abbandoned factories and school-yards...

Anyway, the ZBD-04 seems to be the new PLA standard IFV though. Of course it will take years to equip all armoured infantry divisions with them...

and yes, ballistic skirts, ERA or Slat-Armour would be favorable.

Or better, it will receive an APS like the BMP-3, or just the Shtora-clone the ZTZ-96A has.

Anyway, Russian did not master the technology of NEPE fuel. As far as I know, Russia has introduced Chinese version NEPE--N-15 recently to improve the propulsion system of their missiles, including the terrible ICBM--Bulava.

My father is working in the nationalized chemical factory of fuel. One month ago, some Russian came to the factory to negotiate the cooperation of missile fuel. They want to introduce N-15 fuel, the Chinese version of NEPE.

Don't think Russia is as powerful as USSR, they lost most of their industry ability in the past ten years. Don't think Chinese technology is as weak as ten years ago, or even tewenty years ago.

You don't know a lot of things, do you know the cooperation of CJ2000 and P2000? They are the projects of next generation jet engines of China and Russia. China and Russia exchanged the technologies they own in this cooperation.

The technology of synthetic resin of DF31A was introduced from Russia. And now, Russia want to introduce Chinese technology of carbon boost spout of JL2.

    highly interesting!

can you elaborate further? I dont understand much about rocket-science (literaly).

If it's so, would you expect the Chinese next-gen pulse-detonation engine-project, whose rumors we heard about lately, to advance as well?

I believe if this is true, then this would be a dramatic step ahead for Chinese missile technology...
