Default Insurgency in the Presevo Valley, 2001

For some basic, and somewhat inaccurate information about the conflict:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pre%C5%...alley_conflict

It was barely a conflict at all, in all honesty. Between 2000 and mid-2001, the fighting mainly consisted of skirmishes and sniper "duels" along the "Ground Security Zone", especially around the village of Lucane, which was divided by the demarcation line. The only real fighting happened in and around the town of Oraovica and around the town of Veliki Trnovac, both outside the zone. Once NATO allowed the Serbian Joint Security Forces into the Zone, sector by sector, the whole thing looked like a prolonged military drill, as the outnumbered and outgunned rebels offered little resistance (sporadic badly thought-out ambushes and "last stands"), and most either fled to Kosovo and surrendered to NATO, or simply took of their uniforms, hid their weapons, or surrendered to the Yugoslav Forces, were released, and returned to civillian life, taking full advantage of the general amnesty which the government issued.

Anyways, the photos, and I do beg anyone willing to contribute to be civil:

No. The men in the first "masked" pic in are the 72 Commando Brigade, and the guy in the second belongs to the then-Posebna Jedinica Policije (PJP), or Special Police Unit.

    Thanks, guys!

The ethnic Albanian guerilla, the UCPMB:

    The leadership of UCPMB:

The guy first from the right, Ridzvan Cazimi, called "Leshi" was killed during the conflict, the rest of them turned themselves in to NATO, and then returned to the valley, and are now living as ordinary citizens.

What was the difference between UCK and UCPMB?

And is there any other splinter Albanian group active right now?

True. A little known fact is that about half of the members of UCPMB were not originally from the valley itself, but were UCK veterans from Kosovo.

There is AKSH, but they're not active in a sense that they're going around shooting and throwing hand grenades on police checkpoints and Serbian bars, they occasionally put on their uniforms, pose with their weapons, and make vague threats. They're located in Kosovo.
