I spoke to some officers, they said the same and for the exact reasons mentioned above. Next time a unit will be upgraded they will get the Micro Tavor.

How can they possibly hand out even more shortened weapons than the already used CTAR?
I hope that they put some long thinking into this..

What's the problem? They just put a 15in. barrel like the CTAR. It's simply a better rifle.

    P.S. cost per unit: 1400$.

    My thoughts also.

Sometimes it seems as if there's a sort of presumption in the IDF that shorter is always better... almost a fetish even.

But I trust that the people at GOC Army headquarters will make the right decision.

    P.S
I think we have gone way too off topic and a separate thread needs to be made.

Would they really put the 15in. barrel? is that the plan?
So its all an issue of the frame?

I don't know if that's the plan but it can be done easily.
Read what pretorian669 wrote, that's the reason it's better. The barrel length isn't the problem.

Givati November 2009 draft were supposed to be issued MTARs down to Squad Leader(? MAKIM) level. For some reason it did not happen.Maybe the March 2010 draft.

just started reading this thread.. been thinking of getting an ARES TAVOR or maybe someday a real steel one.. but import restrictions is POS in the good 'ol usa.

N.B. somehow the israelis on this thread are far more helpful than some cats on the other threads that it always ended up like a pissing contest amongts 6 year olds. just my observation..
