    The cheap one I posted would qualify, that's what I wore. The scuzzy stuff is probably from some over efficient type who glued camo cover to the helmet, instead of just securing it with a slice of cut inner tube.

    Didn't the IDF wear British paratrooper helmets in the past? I've seen quite a few pics from '67, '73, and '82 that look like they are. If so, when did they go to Kevlar?

    Yeah those were the old Steel para helmets. I have no idea when they switched to the Orlite ones though.

    well i know for a fact that soldiers were in lebanon with kevlar helmets.

    In my time, everybody used kevlars thats for sure.

    that's a good question. I'd like to know too......I didn't know the MARS was sold to civilians since it has a built in IR designator which I thought was illegal to buy/own.
