@Radu2: Nice "oldies"! If you have more old photos, don't be shy in posting them.
I guess they were conscript at that time...

The photo above made me ask myself some question. Interested people read post 141 and 142 at http://www.militaryphotos.net/forums...=1#post6610482 and post there if you can help.

Photos from an RFT article (http://www.rft.forter.ro/_wsn/2013_2/03-to/13.htm) describing the benefits of the air support (helicopter) provided by the US Forces in support of Romanian Forces in Afghanistan.

In essence, the article talks how Romanian Patrols feel safer when they have air cover provided by attack helicopters, about the benefits air airborne missions, the benefits of fast logistic support and the immediate response in case of medevac. It also mentions that using a resource that does not belong to Romania should not be abused, as it is based in mutual trust that took years to solidify.

Romanian marines training in the mountains . I repeat 307th Marine Battalion training in the mountains.
    From Ro-Navy website: http://www.navy.ro/index.html

The exercise involved survival and tactical training in alpine environment during winter conditions and it shows the range of environments the scouts of the 307th Marine Battalion can perform in (ranging from delta to mountain).

The exercise was done in collaboration with members of the 2nd Mountain Battalion.

1st April 2013, Romanian Air Force celebrates 100 years since the first Law of Organization of Military Aeronautics. Basically the law that created the Romanian Air Force.

    extract...
After consulting existing pilots and flight schools, the Romanian Parliament voted on the "Law of Organization of Military Aeronautics" on 1st April 1913, which was sanctioned by the High Royal Decree no. 3199 of 18/30 April 1913 by King Carol I of Romania.

Some info can be found on the official Air Force website: http://www.roaf.ro/ro/index.htm Honestly, I was expecting a bit more publicity... maybe a press release on the National Defense website. Even with the current RoAF problems a centenary is not something to ignore.

I hope by the end of the month to hear about some festivities and definitely they should organize something for July, 20th (Romanian Air Force Day).
