I have recently bit the bullet and bought the LEAF Tango pack, LEAF kneepads, and a LEAF Alpha jacket. I have high hopes based on the quality of my other Arcteryx gear. I will post photos as soon as it get here.

Has anyone else used LEAF gear? If so, what did you think?

Yeah I have used the LEAF gear. By far the best jackets and packs I have used. That includes Kifaru. I really like the echo pack.
Sizes are on the small side though. I believe that you can't get much better.

Holy sh*t!!! I have that exact bag!! I got it in the IDF and it kinda fell through the cracks so i took it home with me. I have it in woodland cammo. It's a great bag, really comfortable and you can really cram a lot of stuff inside.

www.coach.com they have some pretty sweet handbags in there that might suit your needs, my wife swears by them. i used the assault pack you first posted last deployment on short patrols, i had no problem with its lack of padding or space. don't need padding when you're wearing body armor, and how much **** do you really need for a day long patrol which is what they're intended for.

Wow, old thread. Little update: I'm on the cusp of purchasing an Alpha LT Jacket, and I won't even have to sell a Kidney, not even half of one.

    Working is cool.

Dont know about the Saracen, but I have had one of thier Commando rucksacs since 1989, given it some serious abuse and it is still fully intact!

The lowe alpine saracen is a pack with a volume of 120 liters.
It comes with detachable day packs.
One of the features is a back panel that can be adjusted for the length of your back/spine.
Besides the green one there is also a version in Dutch DPM with molle webbing.
The quality is very good, as long as you are sure to buy a Lowe Alpine and not a clone.

A good source of info is Ipkiss, he has a serious backpack fetish.

    Regards,

I've got an Lowe Alpine Saracen and a Stingray. I've got the original Lowe Alpine version and indeed not the clone. I didn't really abuse them but I have to say they are nice packs which can hold a lot of stuff and still feel right on your back.

My experience with the Saracen is that the pack is very well-made, and also very big, but I wasn't too happy with the part on your back and the hipstraps.
On long yomps i always got serious blisters on my lower back...
I prefered -and still do- the Berghaus Crusader and later the Berghaus Cyclops Vulcan as they seem to have better backs and straps ( IMO )
The newer Lowe Alpine grabbag (Strike I believe) is a good piece of kit ( but again IMO)
But, as mentioned above, always go for the real thing, whatever bergen you decide to buy!!

    Yes it is.

Tercio67 was probably referring to inferior Saracens that were made in licence for the Dutch army. If it says Lowe alpine on the pack and it has a printed line of numbers for the adjustable shoulder straps you'll be fine.

I heard Dutch marines are offered a choice between the Lowe-alpine Saracen and the Berghaus Vulcan after lots of complaints about the Lowe.

Thitching is triple and at stress points quadruple so should pose no problems.

You also might be interested in Karrimor packs.

Like Ipkiss said, there were indeed lots of complaints on the Lowe. I bought a Karrimor patrol pack once , it was a very good pack but after a few days using it the back appeared to be too short for my back! I later found out on the Karrimor website that lots of people had that problem as the Karrimor packs seem to be built for shorter people. But...good quality they are!!

Im a little confused about the 80- 130? how does it have 80-130 liters of capacity? Also if anyone has any experience with Karrimor SF products let me know how they hold up.
