The real answer is to recognize that a well regulated militia is necessary to the security of a free state. Criminals and tyrannts will always obtain weapons the real answer is to allow the civilians of Mexico to purchase, possess, and carry firearms.
With the kind of weaponry available to drug cartels, wouldn't every citizen need to stock up on automatic weapons as well to be able to properly defend himself? I understand that most Americans are a bit obsessed about their 2nd amendment rights, but how is pouring more arms into an already fragile state going to lead to anything else than a further escalation of violence?
