The "Bullpup carbine", a rifle design of my own, inspired by Boberg pistol

After studying the boberg pistol, I kinda 'upscaled' the mechanism a lil bit and ended up with this.

a lazy attempt at modelling the outer shell using Milkshape lolo


and the simple animation of the internals


Caliber: 5.56x45mm
Magazine capacity: 30 rnds
Rate of fire: With such a system, i'd say pretty low, maybe 500rnd/min?
Operation: Gas operated, short stroke piston, beretta 92f style locked breech.

Ideally with such mechanism, a full sized barrel can fit inside a carbine sized weapon while still having the conventional rifle layout on the outside, as opposed to the sometimes akward bullpup configuration.

its much faster to reload a rifle of a conventional layout than a of a bullpup layout, and it guess its for countries sticking to the conventional rifle rather than bullpups

Are there actually that many moving parts, I count 4. Then theres gonna be some locking pins and lugs, cartridge extractors and stuff but all rifles have those.

Also the animations shows it to be automatic without any other parts (except spring and gas piston) to operate. So I'd say it's less complicated than a FN FNC for example.

Great video and design idea, keep up the good work!

To me there's nothing complex about bullpup design. Sure it may be hard to get used to, but once you spend time on range (even I, with the limited time I got on range with the L98, got used to the magazine being where it is). Also, an experienced user can change mags just as fast as any rifle in a regular configuration.

I would go with conventional ejection. No need to make it more complex with the forward ejection.
