U.S. buys Su-27 fighters from Ukraine for 'aggressor' training

MOSCOW, May 12 (RIA Novosti) - The United States has bought two Su-27 Flanker fighter jets to help train U.S. pilots to cope with the growing number of Russian 4th-generation aircraft sold around the globe, a U.S. online magazine said.
The two planes have been bought from a private Ukrainian company by the Reno-based Tac Air, which provides training and test support for the military.

The aircraft will also be used to test the effectiveness of new U.S. radars and electronic warfare equipment, the Strategy Page reported.

Most excellent, I hope other NATO members will join future exercises with those birds...

Its just the first confirmation that those will be used as "aggressors".

Now imagine the drama if Russia bought 2 F-15 or F-16 (from Venezuela) for "agressor" training.
I can see " Russia is staring a new cold war, plans to invade the US and the free world" headlines in the western press.

F-15 are difficult to find but without doubt the russians have some F-16 for testing.

why would RUssia even want F-15 for testing, Su-27 already improved on everything the Eagle had....ofc latest AESA Eagle would be a nice catch, but where you gonna get one of those ?

It's always better to know in depth how your enemy is... F-4s were better than MiG-21, yet USAF created its Red Hats squadron after the Vietnam War

Nice, I'd be giddy if I were one of the US pilots selected to pilot one of those bad boys.

Russia has most of the Su-27's, and I don't think the US is planing to fight Angola Indonesia or Ukraine anytime soon.
Mig-29 has far more operators, including the biggest threat to America, Cuba, and North Korea
