Well tI think there are no Doctrine or any document directly to say that "Georgian army is built to Recapturing Georgian territories."
But everybody(in the army) knows who is our enemy and even the president often says

+you can see the photo that I have posted that presumable targets were also in Tskhinvali reagion.“I would like to congratulate for the successful completion of the military exercise. Today we have witnessed once more that in spite of the effort of our opponent forces to demolish our Armed Forces, demoralize our combat personnel - our officers, our soldiers, our corporals, our sergeants we managed to maintain their combat spirit and strength, but also managed to continue and hasten the modernization process recently. We don’t have any illusion who is our enemy. Of course, the rival is hypothetical in each exercise. But all of us know very well who intervened in Georgia, who occupies Georgian territories, who has further aggressive plans towards Georgia. You all know quite well that you are the main defenders of Georgia. Of course, when a country is in trouble and under attack, each citizen becomes a soldier; each citizen becomes a protector of his motherland. But you are the major front and decisive line of our defense, the most important guarantor of the country’s future. That’s why we continue full support to our Armed Forces, modernization in maximal rate and we will achieve Georgian Armed Forces to be very well trained, equipped with high standards and ready to carry out all tasks and overcome all challenges that we face to.
sure guys it can't say "we have the official priority to try to retake the lost regions again" like it didn't say that official till the war, till it was "re-establishing constitutional order"
but whatever, thanks again for the information, i see that georgian armed force are in the momenten devoloping defensive

I wonder how the re-armament policy goes.
The calssified wiki-leaks document of February 2009 about the state of the Georgian Army after the war gives only wage and incorrect informations, since it is outdated for more than two years allready. From mid 2009 since now, according to different accounts, Georgia received a huge amount of small arms of both Soviet-Russian and US / Israeli origin. Now allmost every Brigade is equipped with a number of uparmored M1151 vehicles, which according to the document were originally thought to be used only by the Special Forces Brigade in Afghanistan. That contract has been overwritten and widened onto Infantry operating level. Cobra vehicles were integrated into Army elements, what is not common since it was bought for police duties. This could give evidence of much more vehicles beeing ordered, same goes for the Nurol Ejder. GAF battalions give more and more the impression to posses more mobility, then before. Training is more efficient then the 10 years before. Individual gear reaches effective fighting condition.
On the other hand, it seems that the tank force is beeing slowly reduced and obviously as touche replaced by Anti-Tank systems, in opposite of light tank forces IFV ( BMP ) which numbers seem to increase, togheter with the amount of light vehicles and artillery.
If this is really the case, I am really pleased. That is exactly what we need, more protected mobility (Humvees, Cobras, Ejders, BTR-80) as opposed to Toyota and Landrover Jeeps we have seen 3 years ago, less outdated tanks (T-72s and T-55s can be safely said to be "junk" nowadays) more anti-tank and infantry support vehicles. The individual gear also seems to be very close to Nato standards.
The only thing I would really work on additionally is the Air-Defence, Osas and Shilkas are not enough, more Buks and other heavier systems are needed, as well as more Manpads.
Well, mobility is provided for the manpads in use with help of ATVs. We need more advanced AA-Systems like the Spyder low-to-medium attitude and some medium-to-high attitude systems. Buks won't do enough and we have only a low number of OSAs. Shilkas are needed aswell, what is to speak against weaponry mainly thought to take down helicopters ? A Mi-24 wont survive a single salvo if it's hit. I wouldn't throw away that stuff. Same goes for the T-72s. I would rather keep the tank force and update them but just having the heavy weapons teams as mobile Infantry with Anti-Tank Weapons in addition. About the faith of the T-55AMs. I would simply keep them maintained for the Reserve and include them for training purpose of the NG. Yeah well, all these weapons may be old and outdated material, but in case of Georgia and anyone else in such a situation, these are not junk. It's just that the Georgian leadership didn't find a way to work out plans in case of an overdose of military hardware to maintain, since maintanance is difficult over years. That's why since 2001, more than 110 Georgian T-55 tanks had to be trashed. So I think there are not much of the T-55AMs left, maybe a handfull or a dozen. Maintanance was a big problem for GAF back then. Just look at the pictures of the equipement from 1991 to 2005.
About BTR-80. I don't think we have a lot of them. In general BTR family. But maybe you could give some info. Last time they only presented BTR-80 on the parade. Do we still maintain the BTR-70DI or are they beeing fully replaced now ?
I might be wrong, but as far as I know BTR-70DI-s have an engine from BTR-80, which is main difference between BTR-70 and BTR-80, so neither technically, nor visually there is no difference between BTR-80s and BTR-70DIs at least to meI am pretty sure we do not have any BTR-60s. We should have around 40-50 BTRs altogether.
As for T-55s, I think there are only 3 left, the ones on Orpholo military Polygon, or am I wrong?
I still think the moment our military embargo is lifted, we should get rid of T-72s, and buy something modern and Western. Long range Artillery would not hurt either.
At this time we must forget Spyder and all Israeli made hardware because of our relationship. It`s too bad that buying ammunition from Israel is nearly impossible and we have a lot of Israeli hardware.
T-55s were withdrew a long time ago.
If any gunship can survive any hit its Mi-24 because of its only advantage-armor.A Mi-24 wont survive a single salvo if it's hit.
---
I think our priority must be Air defenses and then AT missiles.
I don't know how much T-55 tanks are left, but not an amount of worth showing .... lol
We have no kind of military embargo, expect of Russia's illusionary threats. The US and Israel are still selling us weapons, aswell as Turkey and Ukraine. Noone is just though enough to sell us heavy equipement. That's the problem.
Yeah 40-50 BTRs sounds most realistic. Maybe even up to 70.
A ZSU will rip it apart. Remember, it are four cannons shooting at the same time.
Just because the Embargo is not written anywhere, does not mean it is not in force, your words just support that.
There is an agreement between Kremlin and White House, so that Washington gives a directive to its allies not to supply to us anything heavier than an RPG, it is sad, but it is true. On the other hand maybe it is good, no-one in our government will get any illusions of omnipotence again.
Russian BTR-70M's have the engine of the BTR-80 and therefore the same hull rear which makes them look quite a lot like the BTR-80. Ukrainian BTR-70Di's however have an Iveco diesel engine (hence the "i" in the designator) and a different exhaust. I haven't seen pictures of Georgian vehicles so far though.
Sure, but would Georgia even be able to buy those "heavy equipment" or you except USA will give them for free?
If you have financial means, you can buy qualitative equipment anywhere.

Looks like we have some problem about that.Mikheil Saakashvili: Georgia needs defensive systems
I didn`t say that it will or not . But armor is not the specification of Mi-24 that can be rejected.A ZSU will rip it apart. Remember, it are four cannons shooting at the same time.
