that's some visionaries work pretty much.

Kinda have to disagree on the T-72. I mean it's some kind of useful when outfitted with modern electronics and uparmored, with latest composite material, but it's still the vulnerable tank which is not providing much safety if at all, to the crew. That's the case with T-72Sim1. It's armor would never have a chance against later T-tanks.

I am naturaly against older stuff which DO NOT show any effiiciency on field today and honestly, the T-72 is definitly a case.

Now what I want to know is, are they going to expose tracked vehicles this time ? According to T-72s, it looks like. But then, they should also show the BMPs and ZSUs then .....
But most important question is: Are the roads suited for this ?

I think to construct one and have the resources for both deveöpement and production is the main problem. Having ideas of a decent and wel thought design and making concepts is not the real matter at all. In some time, the engineers they'll figure it out without problems, trust me. There will be a Georgian tank in future. All that brain there never was given a chance to even think about something like Didgori, not when research faculties budget was not never as high as it is now since 2009, increased to more than 100%

Whitegeorge, do you honestly believe a small nation like Georgia can afford to develop its indigenous tank design and produce it? If georgia wants to produce all the military gear a modern army needs by itself it will have to turn into a second north korea.

Do you know how long it took the Turks to get to where they are now with Altai and how much longer it will take them to mass produce it?

I will be happy if they bring out some T-72Sim1s...
If You ask about Otokar Altay MBT project, 3-4 years for Design(2008-2012), 2 years for 4 seperate prototype production(2012-2014), 1-1,5 years for testing(2014-end of 2015).

thanks for supporting my argument, according to you it is taking turkey 7-8 years to complete Altay, we started funding our military research center 3 years ago. I just don't see a Georgian tank for another 5-6 years, if at all.

    BTW great looking tank!

    Have you read the article..
There is a mention of US firms "General Electric "and" General Dynamics ", May be Ratheon..

Besides relaying for MBT from outside where no one is willing to openly sale to Georgia, Even if some one does there is cost of importing, Is better produce inside with the knowledge available..

Dude, that's not our aim, but we have developed Lazika right ? Did it turn us into NK ? Remind me what the current research budget for military is ..... ehm 20 million right ..... ? No. I don't get your point. I totaly agree that it would be hell of expensive, but nobody does such things without foreign support anyway and keep in mind that the US has signed research support. However, I was talking about designing not about instant mass production and I highly doubt such a project in Georgia would cost as much as a same priority object in Russia and the US, of course with the result that it would lack some superiority. That's something Georgia would not be able to afford atm due to financial issues anyway, but the idea is important. If Georgia can produce something better than T-72 but inferior to Abrams, Leopard I can go with it and for mass production, an indeginous tank would cost much less. That's how it looks for me. I can be totally wrong of course.

I have to go with Kunal Biswas on this matter.

and yep, this time it looks like they'll roll out all the inventory available ....

Good reason to be defeated. This is good equipment, but it is not equipment winning wars.

The Gvozdika is not such a bad piece actually. But of course, it's all about the soldier himself.

It's the first time I see the 2S1 in Georgian service. I suppose they got them quite recently, maybe from Ukraine?
