Every Brigade has it's own Special Forces sub unit. Specialist Assaultmen, Specialist Marksmen, Saboteurs aso. Georgia has 5 professional infantry brigades and several Special Forces units. Now, there is one Batallion of selected Special Forces Soldiers. It is the Commando Batallion. The Commando Batallion has sub units, one of them are again selected one. The Elite Commandos. This organisation of structure does not differ from some other countries, like Mexico for example. It is also cultural based. Georgian Elite Commandos act individual, if not in a team of 3-4. They are allowed to. Special Forces Soldiers have to work in squads and allways interacting with support forces like gunships, light armoured vehicles and artillery. Saashvilis personal lifeguard consists of one of the best trained, although, the president allways traditionally has an uniformed life guard. SpecOps are something different.

What do you mean "cultural based"? How does KUD work into this?

The Georgian Army, in the Medieval Army, 1921, in Abkhazia, allways had selected Elite units.
KUD ?, those guys are from the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Police units. More like SWAT and for intelligence or secret service. But they are most likely as the personal hunter brigades of Merabishvili. The training does not differ from SpecOps, but they kinda have a role of political executions.

BTW, do the T-72B use the same reactive armor like the PT-91, at least on the front part ?
T-72B uses both K-1 and K-5 reactive armor. K-5 is much more impressive stuff than the stuff used on pt-91.

SOD are normal SpecOps. They support Commandos. The SOD usually works in companies with divided squads. The KUD is not less qualified like the SOD, they even have a better range of assaultrifles and smgs.

How does one get into Special Forces? Do you get selected or do you have to be in regular forces for some time?

You have to qualify for advanced training, language, marksmanship, medic, special weapons, Special Forces course, obstacles, night training, training under realistic condidions, like beeing hunted by patrols, diving, paratrooper, driving, skiing, climbing aso

You at least need to pass advanced marksmanship, special Forces qualification training at night and realistic conditions, special weapons, medic, languages, paratrooper and diving.

Language is other languages? Or is it being able to speak Georgian very clearly because then I would fail completely.

Foreign languages, like French for example. I do not think that you have to know more languages, than georgian english, maybe russian and if you want other, languages. I am absolutly not sure about extra sallery for beeing specialised in any of the things. Actually they have to pay a bonus. It is the Georgian Army, still in a beta phase LoL

I don't know really. Hmm, you could visit http://mod.gov.ge/?lang=1 and ask them. The site is still a bit under construcion.

    Also, important: Look at
    Military Personell Salaries

    http://mod.gov.ge/index.php?page=-10&Id=10&lang=1

My aquetance was pushed into the army with 18 years, by his unlce. He is now a Commando Officer. During his service he visited France, Germany, the United States, Canada, and Italy. So he gathered a lot of experience and qualified for a lot of things before beeing accepted as Commando.

Thanks for your contribution to the thread bro!

Salary would not be too much of a concern for me as I do not plan to make this a career. I also plan to do it right after my Turkish military conscription service. That might help things out a lot.
