Long story short, we were sometimes given the choice between A and C, so the ones (including me) who prefered the old AK5 used that instead.

That's an interesting topic btw, anyone else who prefers the old AK5?

Oh I understand. Sounds like a good idea.

Honestly, I want the old one. But the closest thing to it that I will come is my C without aimpoint.

    Amf1 or 1st Marine Regiment

The 1st Marine Regiment (Amf 1), also known as the Amphibious Regiment, operates wherever land and water meet. The regiment is responsible for producing an international marine force capable of operating both nationally and internationally.
The unit has capabilities covering surface and underwater operations, as well as airborne and land operations, which together provide the ability to exercise control of littoral areas, so ensuring that land and marine units have access to, or are able to pass through, a particular area. This requires the ability to move swiftly – and covertly when necessary – and to operate in small units.
The Amphibious Regiment trains marine soldiers in a variety of special capabilities. These include coastal rangers, special operations divers, marine infantrymen and maintenance technicians.

    The Amphibious battalion

The Amphibious Battalion constitutes the regiment’s combat unit. Its marine unit soldiers are equipped to use controllable mines, missile systems, grenade launchers and other weapon systems.
The Amphibious Battalion moves and fights with the Fast Attack Craft 90H and the armoured version 90 HS. These combat boats are armed with heavy automatic weapons. Amf 1 also operates patrol craft. These are use for surface surveillance patrols, maritime control and cooperation with naval forces in anti-submarine operations. The unit also trains boarding parties whose task is to monitor shipping in a variety of situations.

    International involvement

The Amphibious Regiment was responsible for the establishment and training of the amphibious force, TD 01, which constituted the Swedish contribution to the EUFOR mission in Chad and the Central African Republic.

    Same regiment Leaper posted about

    Back to the AK5..

According to a few sources of mine, the AK5c weighs in at a hefty 4,89 kg with 1 full magazine. Wikipedia says that the AK5A weighs 4,5 kgs, and a difference of 400 grams isnt that much, yet in the long run that's the main reason why I prefer the AK5A. I feels more balanced too, probably because of the lenght I presume. Can't wait till we start seeing ACOGs and whatnot on the CESAR, another source tells me that MSS (MarkStridsSkolan) is evaluating new combat sights for the AK4 and AK5 and magnifiers for the red dots on the AK5c.

That's the patch used by the Swedish Marines. The "viking" actually is the god Thorleif. Look it up on wiki or something.
The patch you've got is a couple years old. We get new ones all the time. I belive your patch to be about 8-10 years old

Shifty: Acogs! I'd love that! I've seen pictures of aimpoints with an magnifier behind it, but really, if we get Acogs, **** having two sights on your weapon.

Here´s the one I wore (in the middle) along with a few variants from over the years when 3.Bn. existed. It´s from the dark ages (1990s)

Hi, I know it's a photo thread but I don't think it's necessary for me to start a thread in the general forum I just have a couple of questions.

I'm 18 years old and I'm currently in my last semester at Gymnasiet(High School) studying the Naturvetenskapliga programmet.
I did my mönstring in December and I got good results. However they told me that there's no enrolment in the "Lumpen" anymore
so they placed me in "Utbildningsreserven". They told me that after the reforms in the military there will be something called GMU(Grund militär utbildning)
which I will be able to apply for.

I picked the NV programme in school because I had planned to start studying right after I finish it. But I'm so tired of school right now that I won't
be able to go to university immediately.

So I've been thinking about applying for GMU. My question is if anybody knows when it will be available to apply for the GMU. And I also wonder
if you can study at the military academy Karlberg to become an officer after you've finished the GMU.

    Thanks in advance.

Are you planning to go back to school at some point?
