It gives us nothing but a big ass gun boat and not much else. It is a missed opportunity for the Navy to actually have bought a Frigate or OPV that actually had some teeth into it. We hold on to these ships like Patek Phillip's, so we will be stuck with this one for a long time.

Mr. Cuisia is a highly respectable and simplistic person.

    Default Philippine AEV [cancelled program]

The Philippine AEV [Armored Escort Vehicle] was designed and built by Steelcraft Industries. It was built to provide the Philippine Army a convoy escort vehicle, which up to now is still performed by the limited umber of Mk.3 Simba, V-150, M-113 APCs. Having the AEV would allow the Army's APCs deployed where they are most needed. Sadly this program has been terminated.

Here are the photos of the XM-8 AEV [a.k.a Barako]

Default Philippine Air Force S-76 [AUH-76] helicopter

Philippine Air Force S-76 [AUH-76] helicopter

Formerly used as helicopter gunships and armed with 7 round rocket launchers and machine gun pod, it now serves the 505th Search and Rescue Group of the Philippine Air Force.

Who Philippines? They've retired their F-5A/B's back in 2005 and plans acquire newer fighters have been delayed due to both political and budget reasons.

Sadly we have none, the F-5s were retired, the S-211 [AS.211] are just basic jet trainers being used as attack aircraft. Even they aren't capable of CAP, they only have a gun pod for .50 cal HMG.... No missiles and limited range and endurance.

Once you give up fighters it's hard to come back, remember New Zealand... i'm sure 12 used gripen or squadron of jf-17 would cost less then 700M USD.

The JF-17 is Chinese made and with problems between Philippines and China in the last few months over the Spartly Islands is doubt PhAF is going to buy them. The Gripen is possible, but what I heard lately that the PhAF is looking to buy either F/A-18 or the MiG-29.

The Philippine Air Force says they are looking into the F/A-18 and Mig-29. Since the Mig-29s will cost more to operate , the F/A-18 is the likely aircraft they will buy. Then again there were reports, of renting equipment. Even though the government said they are looking for brand new, the C/D models are no longer produced. IT could end up as 2nd hand units from either the US stocks or Canadian.

3 of the most glaring mistakes of that program is in the photos you posted. 2 of them are in the spec sheet. The project was a failure before it even started, and no it is not sad, it is an example of a company going about its product design with no inputs from Army R&D.

It was a solution looking for a problem.

But ex-navy Hornets are 20 years old, some already in storage, so 8 f/a-18D would be free and you only pay Boeing for Mid-live update.
