DK1 protecting the Southern continental corridors throughout 20 years (16:51 02/07/2009)
Navy arms combining with Ba Ria-Vung Tau authorities and populace celebrated the 20th establishment day of economics-science-service block called DK1 (July 5 1989-July 5 2009) at Phuc Tan.
Standing 700km away from the continent, DK1 is a system of oil-rigs, belonging to Ba Ria-Vung Tau province. This is a place for science research, oil exploration, hydrometeorology and also a food, water and fuel supplier for all local fishermen. During the past 20 years, all DK1 staffs and soldiers have overcome lots of difficulties to fulfill their duties. “...DK1 soldiers have encountered most severe weather conditions. 20 years is not a very long period of time but it’s a big challenge to soldiers’ skill and spirit”, said Nguyen Cong Hoa vice political commissar of the Navy.
On this occasion, the delegations and local populace also held a ceremony to commemorate DK1’s soldiers who had sacrificed for the nation’s sovereignty.
