    Default [PANO] Vietnamese and Chinese navies conduct joint patrol at sea

    PANO - Early this June, Vietnamese People’s Navy and Chinese People’s Liberation Army Navy conducted the 13th joint patrol in the Tonkin Gulf. Attentively, that was the first time the two navies joined hands in organizing an anti-piracy exercise on the east of Vietnam’s Thanh Lan Island.
    Reporter Van Yen from the People’s Army Newspaper observed this special event and took some photos which PANO would like to introduce them.


    National flag flying on the “HQ861” before the ship sailing for the joint patrol and anti-piracy exercise
    Determination of naval troops of Vietnam
    Troops on the “HQ861” starting their day with the mission briefing delivered by Senior - Lieutenant Pham Trung Dong, the ship captain
    Senior-Commander Nguyen Ngoc Son, Deputy-Commandant of Brigade 161, Naval Region C, commanding naval fleet of Vietnamese People’s Navy during the exercise and joint patrol. Son always being in the cabin to direct troops to deal with any circumstances, ensuring the mission completed excellently
    Lieutenant Tran Xuan Ly (R), a chief operator, checking the safe operation of machines. The average temperature in the machine room remaining 45 degrees Celcius
    Two missile ships 752 and 753 of Chinese People’s Liberation Army Navy participating in the joint patrol. In this picture, they being on the move in the other side of the Tonkin Gulf demarcation line
    “The 752”, 62,8m x 7,2m x 2,4m, able to reach a speed of 28 nautical miles per hour. The ship with a crew of about 70, equipped with 4 YJ-1 missiles with a firing range of 40km or C802 missiles with a firing range of 120km, and with four 37mm cannons.
    Senior - Lieutenant Bui Tho Thanh of Vietnamese People’s Navy using HF radio to contact signal officer on “Flagship 752” of China. During the joint patrol and exercise, Thanh keeping close contact with that flagship.
    Commanding board of “Flagship HQ861”, while conducting joint patrol and exercise, following and timely dealing with any circumstances
    Junior - Lieutenant Nguyen Cong Vinh receiving and transmitting signals, ensuring clear communication with the mainland
    Practicing the reception and transmission of signals from hand-raising flags with Chinese ships. Junior - Lieutenant Nguyen Van Thanh giving signals while Nguyen Trung Kien recording the transmitted signals and Commander Ngo Xuan Duong, observing the practice with binoculars. The practice occurring in good weather with flag-raising records
    Work of logistics being focused to ensure good health for troops during long-day missions at sea. In this picture, Nguyen Van Binh cooking lunch with duck stewed with bamboo sprout. Binh, one of the most professional cooks of Brigade 161
    During the joint patrol by the two navies, an anti-piracy exercise being conducted. In the picture, Vietnamese People’s Navy’s troops double checking the guns to be ready for any circumstances
