I've read it from some where, they were korean labor / cooks served in japanese imperial army, then they were captured by the russians, then again by the germans; and in normandy, american troops captured them.

Is there a source or book on this topic? The Japanese did exploit the Koreans heavily for labor and it's plausible that some might have ended up in Russian hands. The Germans did have all sorts of non-German foreign units/support like the SS but I've never heard of Koreans ending up in Normandy.

hmm, I'd have the impression they would have been executed if they were captured in Russian service by the Germans.

Could be from one of the Asiatic peoples that were part of the Soviet Union, they had no love for Stalin and many fought for the Germans against the USSR.

They were captured after the Battle of Khalkhin Gol in 1939.

Iirc they are from units called ost battalions? Ethnic Asians from occupied soviet territories that joined/conscripted into German service. There's a sing reenactor that has collected quite a few pictures of Asians in German service google his website.

The Soviets and Japanese fought in Manchuria for a few months in 1939.
