Actually a rather upbeat piece I felt. Usually they say something like, "this is the RN's massive new amazing super carrier which is generating thousands of jobs..." then they add the caveats... "but it costs billions more than planned and the aircraft for it doesn't fly." I approve of this more positive reporting...

Nice to see the corner block fitted and from the looks of it the side of the ship appears to have been prepped for its sponsons in the not to far distant future, only trouble is that stern shot appears to show a slight mismatch in alignment, so lets hope thats just the crane still holding the weight !.
That warping will pull together when they weld it all up. As the welds cool, they contract and pull everything tightly together. Ship builders also use hydraulic jacks to pull things into shape... Admittedly that sounds a little agricultural for this build, but nothing seems beyond these guys!

Yes, and to add to this, as I understand it the interior bulkheads are aligned and welded first, and the exterior welds are completed last at which point in time the exterior mating surfaces are aligned.

I enjoyed the Meridian piece; as enjoyable as it was to see the various views of HMS QUEEN ELIZABETH, what really interested me was the view of sections of HMS PRINCE OF WALES which appear to be rapidly approaching readiness for ring link-up. It doesn't seem all that long ago that LB02 for HMS QE was at that stage, does it?

I always like how they forget to mention that it has nothing to do with the program itself and everything to do with the politicians who were in power at the time and last time I checked the F-35B was flying.
