Sorry mate saw your last paragraph and couldn't resist a bit of a laughand no not having a wet lol, you can tell your ex navy, my father in law (w**ker) still refers to his drinking as a wet!!
Back on topic, she sure is coming on. Things i've noticed today are that the LB05 units (remember them) now have scaffolding all around them, on the top anyway and SB03 has double the weld tents on it. The bad news is i'm working all day Friday and SaturdaySo no long range pics i'm afraid and no running commentary, gutted!!!
It would be possible to walk around to several different locations and take photos, during the lift sequence. Although we feel the build is happening quite quickly, there is ample time while the blocks are hanging from the crane. Getting everything aligned correctly prior to the welders doing their thing, is quite important. The amount of time that the bow was suspended, is probably because of having to be so exactly aligned. Imagine a degree out of alignment on something this size - the helmsman would (theoretically) be fighting the ship wanting to do a slow turn to one side.
looking at this ,taken from http://frn.beedall.com/cvf1-19.htm
taking account of time lines being out of date in terms of years started.
once QE is completed around Aug/Oct 2013 , she will not set sail passes Rosyth Forth Bridge until Jul 2014
so the 2016 Portsmouth handover looks about right.
unless someone has a more up to date information.![]()

Timelines change.... plan A never happens these days....
Looks like they have welded all of LB04 together, it’s all progress right now![]()
Just occurrd to me that we will be seeing slower progress in the coming weeks with the adding of remaining blocks. The joining of SB02 & SB03 after they are skidded together on Friday (weather permitting) will take a while to weld all the joins together and verify them. The same goes with the fitting and welding of the remaining CB02 units and of course the CB01 units.
It should still be good to watch progress over the coming months but it will be more weekly updates rather than every couple of days..
Nice to see PoW LB03 units being assembled we should see them come together in the next year or so, but i wonder if we will see some of the LB blocks sat in the production yards untill QE is ready to be floated out and the space is then available for the PoW units.

This may seem stupid and is off topic, but what submarine is that in the foreground of the picture that SDL posted.
