I've drawn a new QE Plan to make block assembly and identification easier. Blocks in red have been lifted into the drydock. White, yet to be lifted.
I've left a gap between LB04 and LB03 because they've not been moved together yet.
I'll continue to post updates of this plan over the coming months. And years. (Gulp!)

UPDATE: This version added 10th December 2012.

Thanks very much , i can now hide my own personal ignorance behind the wealth of knowledge you have just bestowed upon me

Forever took me ages to work out what on earth i was looking for on the pictures, by the time i had put what belongs where i was always 3 discussion points behind hah. Its just so busy over there now its hard to keep track of what is going on! This should do wonders though.

Its taken pride of place in my Military Pictures folder hah, 2912 images and growing

False rumours and lies, The history of the British aircraft carrier 1975 to 2011. Should be a good title for a book. Hello everyone, another new member to the forum. I have been watching this thread for months now and like everyone else I suppose, became so entranced as the plot unfolded that I just had to join in. Lots of thoughts on the subject but for another time. Served on HMS Ark Royal in the early 70,s with Ray Lygo,s Flying Circus so you can imagine that comparing a WW2 designed, heavily armoured, steam driven aircraft carrier with the modern marvel now being built at Rosyth is proving to be time consuming to say the least. Maybe when I can take my eyes off the monitor, or somehow just accept what is really taking place in that dry dock
after all these years of neglect for naval aviation I will provide a few thoughts.

Brilliant work SKB... Thoug you have proved me wrong with it LOL. The reason for the two CB04 modules is the Sponsons not the hanger door space...

The piece of kit on the dockside at the top left of the overhead picture is almost certainly an upside down forward lift. The bit sticking up will be the "sliders" that house the chain mechanism for raising lowering the lift. Indeed if you look at the deck you can see where these bits locate in the hull.

    I wonder why CB06 isn't called CB05C ? There is no LB06!

Just hazarding a guess right now, but i think its because CB06 looks to be a more significant piece in terms of size than either CB05A and B, so for purposes of identification in the construction i guess they felt the need to differentiate it with the designation CB06. Its just an educated guess but make of it what you will.
