Is the Crotale MK.3 an improved version of the NG? If the NG has a max range of 11km and it said the MK.3 was tested out to a range of 15km (which means its max range may even be further), it sounds like it may be an improved version of the NG.

    HI
I think it's only a software upgrade involving a superior range of the VT1 missile through a special ballistic. At the same time it is only industrial testing
"In January 2008, France test-fired the new Crotale Mk.3 system at the CELM missile launch test center in Biscarrosse. The Crotale Mk.3 system's VT1 missile successfully intercepted a Banshee target drone at 970 metre altitude and 8 km range in 11 seconds on 15 January 2008. Later, on 31 January 2008, the system successfully intercepted another target drone at a 500 metre altitude and 15 km range in 35 seconds." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crotale_missile

Thales revealed an updated Crotale NG system with Shikra 150/250 radar at the Paris Air Show in 2007. The system combines Crotale NG's VT-1 missile with a truck-mounted version of the naval Smart-S Mk3 multi-beam search radar, with 150km and 250km (detection range) versions avail. Thales claim that the system's VT-1 missile has extended range to 15km, but lists effective engagement rage of 11km. http://tripatlas.com/Crotale

    Cool VT1 Missile by THALES

The VT1 missile is a land and sea based missile designed specially for shortrange surface to air defence systems. The VT1 equips both the land-based and naval versions of the Crotale Mk3 Short Range Air Defence System.

The VT1 missile has been created to counter all threats including tactical missiles, pop-up helicopters, UAVs and aircraft deploying high-manoeuvring, low-level stand-off weapons. The hyper velocity and high manoeuvrability of the VT1 offer class-leading performance which when combined with the Crotale Mk3 forms a system with a 15km no escape zone against high manoeuvring targets.
