    Default Sayeret Matkal pics

A thread for the famous israeli unit (note - none of these pics come from Isayeret.com; they all come from Google and this site) :

    SM during the 6-Day War

Sirpad posted these 3 pics a while ago in the IDF thead. The captions are his.

sayeret matkal team after operation. exposed face - lt. col. doron avital, unit commander when photo was taken. note sand colored uniform and vests. photo published in yediot ahronot newspaper a year ago

two photos of sayeret matkal or shaldag operators in baal bek hospital, lebanon during operation sharp knife during 2006 lebanon war. although it's a hospital, note AK47 found hidden in patient file cabinet.

The aftermath of Operation Isotope (airplane hostage rescue) in 1972. SM boarded the airplane disguised as mechanics (hence the white coveralls). The operative with the handgun is the SM team leader Ehud Barak. They were only armed with handguns - back then counter-terrorism was in its infant stages.

Netanyahu, who is the leader of the conservative Likud party, has a growing lead in the race to become Israel's next Prime Minister. The politician and former special forces soldier has already served as Israel's Prime Minister, from 1996 to 1999.

No, Bibi was discharged in 1972 and Entebbe was in 1976.

This is "older" (around 2003~2005) pictures of I think Sayeret Duvdevan,

    More recent...

In the two last pics the guys in dark green are Yamas from the Police and the others are regular infantry providing support.

Completly sure it's Shaldag and not SM?

It was a joint operation so I guess we'll never know to which exact unit they belonged to.

    This is epic...

Remember watching this live on TV.

Duvdevan desmounting from an Achzarit APC and entering one of the buildings making up the Mukataa in Ramallah during Operation Defensive Shield in 2002.

I believe the OP wanted this thread to be about SM, and not about the whole IDF for a change.

Strange that there are not much pics of SM before 1967 - nor was I able to find info on their operations during the 6-Day War or before? Anyone knows anything about that?

How politically similar was Yoni to his borther Bibi? Had he survived could we have had him has a Prime-Minister?

Yes, but pics of SM available are close to zero so... lets share about Shayetet or Shaldag and enjoy it no?
