Maybe special forces, etc. but not in regular army, some branches however still use old BDU and DCU uniforms.

We did this alot just to scan around but we knew what to do once we're ready to press the trigger, it's muscle memory...now if somebody presses the trigger with his eyeball that close to the scope then he's an idiot...

Default Charlie Rock conquers the Reiter Alpe

Facing some of the most rugged alpine climbing in Germany, the Soldiers of C Company, Task Force 1-2 Infantry, “Charlie Rock”, 172nd Separate Infantry Brigade, did not blink; the mountains of the Reiter Alpe fell beneath their boots.

The Soldiers of Charlie Rock spent Nov 15 through 18 toiling one step at a time to reach heights nowhere to be found at their home base in Grafenwoehr, Germany. The mountains they faced though are a perfect example of the rugged terrain they will face once they deploy to Afghanistan.

“This was the entire purpose of training event,” Capt. Nick Seidel, commander, C Co. TF 1-2 Inf., 172nd Sep. Inf. Bde., said, “to get the Soldiers into arduous mountain terrain to practice light infantry tactics; ambush, react to contact, patrol base and perimeter defense.”

The training culminated with a mountaintop bone fire alongside their German hosts the night prior to their descent back to more mortal elevations.

The Reiter Alpe forms the western boundary of the Berchtesgaden valley floor. Berchtesgaden, which is well known in popular American culture as the location of Hitler’s infamous “Eagles Nest”, is a picturesque Alpine retreat renowned within the international rock climbing community.
