Of course they hate the BW, but there will always be opposition to the military in a democracy.
So the solution is not to hide from the public and sit everything out but to go out and win the public debate.
I mean the average german officer seems to be more complex ridden in his self image than the average 68er...
So you really think that the German military faces just the sort of opposition which is normal in every other country too?

    Oh well...

What makes our anti-military crowd different?

It's just that our military can't handle political opposition.
They've surrendered the moral high ground and revel in self-pity.
This "nobody likes us" syndrome is the key, not some dreadful commie antimilitary conspiracy.
So there are some Berlin anarchists that torched a few Bundeswehr trucks?
That's really a dreadful internal enemy that means the whole country hates the military.
1968 is over, the BW should realize that..

Also, even if the BW faced such dreadful opposition, what prevents our military people from going out there and tell the people what's going on?
Most prejudices against the military comes from the fact that the average german doesn't know anything about it. 99% of all crap I ever heard about the military I countered with "I served and I didn't see any of that", and that was usually it.

    +++Breaking news+++

Franz-Josef Jung, Germany's Minister of Labour and late Minister of Defence under the last government, has announced his resignation over the Kunduz airstrike. He assumed his current office just four weeks ago.
The "information crisis" concerning an alleged attempt of the German military to cover up reports about civilian casualties of a devastating airstrike on September 4 in Kunduz, Afghanistan has already led to the resignation of Germany's chief of staff and an undersecretary of defence.

    Holy Moly.

Mr. Jung's original fields of profession were actually labour and social affairs. He created the Herzog papers, the conservative's equivalent to the social democrats' Hartz IV reforms.

Somehow I have a feeling that this is not the case. Ursula von der Leyen is going to do the job.

Small note: Like Schneiderhan, Wichert was due to be pensioned in a few weeks/months anyway.

Eh, always gotta keep the proportion.
Since Jung was from Hessen, and his post was taken over by von der Leyen from Niedersachsen... guess who gets Leyen's family ministry? Right, Hessen. And it seems Leyen's successor is also from pretty much the same (very conservative) wing of Hessen's CDU as Jung too.

    Next scandal.............

Apparently some T-shirts showing two fuel trucks and the sentence: "Thou shalt not steal" were made in Camp Marmal...

Afghanistan: Geschmacklose T-Shirts in Camp Marmal verkauft

I think somebody shit in your brain and forgot to stir.

I can understand this is just a way to deal with the whole incident in a sarcastic way but infact it's just tasteless and shows the lack of respect and understanding of some of the people who are fighting there for the "good" side.
