Dude, the more you pull out retarded comments like this the quicker what little credibility you have left disappears. Stop saying retarded **** and try lurking a bit, form an opinion of your own, comment only on things within your own range of experiences.
And seriously hitting on Kap...? Not only is it creepy as hell, but I have no doubt in my mind that she would love to put her boot through your Adams apple.
getting back on subject, it is a nice rifle, wonder how it compares to my DPMS 7.62 16" rifle. I also have an ACOG, but only a x3 with 7.62 bullet drop compensator out to 600m.
@James, about the FAL, it is not a bad rifle, and for most shooters, is quite accurate, you should try and shot one, I am sure you would want one after. I find my FAL much more fun to shoot than my DMPS LT-308T. MY DMPS is my hunting rifle, it has an A2 stock which I find very comfortable.
James, there's a few open source photos of folks using them in a similiar capacity in this neck of the woods here a number of years ago......I reckon it was probably used as a stopgap until dedicated kit could be sourced....that's just my speculation.
My mates and I have used a couple different SLRs configured in much the same way for goat shooting and service rifle shooting.
From my limited experience, I'd agree with Gaijin....I think they make for a solid battle rifle with a nice big round...but come up short a bit in the following two ways:
Accuracy.....while good....I have yet to find an exceptional one that would be a competitive DM rifle
Optical Mounting.....some setups are better than others but the top cover on which I've seen a couple setup for optics is less than idea....there's often a wee bit of movement .
Coincidentally...we also have a few civvie M14s lying around to compare and contrast.......I strongly prefer the M14.......great rifle, great potential accuracy, nice and solid optics mounting....absolutely horrible cheek weld unless you use an entire sofa cushion and roll of 100mph tape![]()
I've been lurking here for years, keeping my head down and reading a lot. I've come to the conclusion that there are a few guys and gals who have BTDT and know their sh!t, and thousands of ass-hats who don't know diddly, but would like folks to think that they do. Of the second category there are three knobs who are outstanding in their stupidity and ass-sucking technique, but you Mr Hispeed1 are the champion of champions, the biggest, stupidest swinging **** on this forum, even dumber than the Filipino crawler and the Polish SF wannabe.
This board has gone badly downhill in recent years, dragged own by idiots like you. FFS pull your head in, STFU and who knows you might even learn something................sorry I forgot, you clearly think you know everything.
Enjoy your suspension, it ought to be a lifetime ban.
The SLR is gone its not coming back to make one into a DMR would take a lot of work it can be done buts about worthwhile as converting a granard to take m14 mags you could do it but my the time you finsihed you might as well buy new.
M14s got turned into DMR as the US had a huge pile of unused M14s so a fairly easy fix the m14 makes a better base for a DMR rifle though I think the FN makes a better service rifle and sales sort of back that up.
Does anyone know if this rifle is going to have suppressed fire capability?
Is there a link to the original thread that was derailed?
Thanks! Hmm, an interesting read... I would imagine the fielded weapon would have a milspec, chrome lined barrel versus a stainless one. Happy hunting to all the lads that end up taking the final version into combat.
I had heard something at first about trigger issues. But our Battalion has had them for a good while now and I haven't heard a peep about them from our sniper section or the HHC armorer. It is entirely possible that they are having some issues. But if they are, they're keeping their gripes to a bare minimum.
The stainless vs. chrome lined barrel was pretty hotly debated in the first thread on this rifle. Something about accuracy vs metallurgical issues.
As far as I'm concerned, the thing could be made out of pewter; if it helps the boys knockdown the bugeating assholes that much better, then so be it.
