Not the ASU (spit, spit).
During the first big Uniform debate, around 2000-2003, Army Times published examples of possible options. Does anyone have those images? I have looked everywhere, but no dice. Army Times may have them in the archives (subscribers only, of which I are not one).
One was essentially WWII (possibly the immediate Prewar version) Pinks & Greens (Brown Coat, Khaki Pants, Brown Shirt).
One was an adaptation of the Naval tunic (used by the USN and USMC), with a standing collar, but in Army colors (Black & Gold). See image attached (poor reconstruction). Basically, a return to the 1918 uniform, but in Black & Gold instead of Khaki/OD.
One was the Star Trek TNG uniforms, only in Army colors. I **** you not. Every Marine in reach of the Internet voted for this option, of course. Bastards.
One was a "Nehru Suit". Mid-collar tunic and pants. No head cover. No pockets on the tunic. Very austere. Flag, unit insignia and rank would be silk-screened on (toss the tunic and buy another after promotion or PCS, as they were designed to be very inexpensive). Looked OK (surprisingly military), but doubtful about the application of space-age fabrics (some kind of silken rayon, IIRC).
Anyone got those pictures? It was the 29DEC03 issue of Army Times.

...looks alot like Marine dress blues IMO.
Am I the only one who thinks it looks like something from the Honorverse? Not that I'm complaining about that.
Black's probably not a good idea. Rather SS'ish, no?
Well the evil bastards could dress, would love to see the other designs mentioned. Google failed me too =(.
Was there something wrong with the really old uniform? So if I see this right, there wasn't anything wrong with the old uniform when they started throwing out these new designs and these new designs ended up making people a little mad as I remember... So now they're like "But we said we'd change to something new, we couldn't possibly stay with the old ones, despite them being alright in the opinions of so many servicemen."
I don't get it.
The Nazi's ruined everything. Black military uniforms, the Charlie Chaplin mustache....
(side note, NEVER go as Charlie Chaplin for Halloween. You space out and take off your hat and waistcoat for one minute.....)
I found a more recent article that said the 12 prototypes were in the July 30th 2001 issue of the Army times but i can't find any pictures and they don't have it archived.
I REALLY want to see the star trek uniforms. I think the Navy missed out on a golden opportunity with their recent service and working uniform changes lol. And to add my 2cents to the argument...I still can't understand why they didn't do the WWII vintage. Most people have seen Band of Brothers and the like so they understand the history behind it. Its distinctive and has no chance of being mistaken for an Air force or Marine uniform....
EDIT: found more info for anyone still looking. They prototypes were by Stan Herman, a clothing designer who has a niche in uniform design (he's designed a couple flight attendant uniforms)
hope it helps

This uniform was shown in the TV Series "Kings" (an adaptation of King David)
I'd thought the uniform was smart and professional. (without the clutter of badges, and pins)
Not to be a ****, but aren't dress uniforms meant to be historical? European armies don't create dress uniforms as they come from real Napoleonic era uniforms.
