But I agree as well, everything up to World War II/Korea looked great. Seemed like after that, every branches uniform changed in two year intervals.

The Sack Coat? it was blanket weight material with no pockets allowed for Enlisted men (as it was thought they could hide stolen items in them). Forget the John Wayne Movie taliored double breasted Campaign Shirts and dashing slouch hats.

The reason we changed from OD in the 1950s was a result of the Doolittle boards reccomendations . The Board looked into the grievances of enlisted men during WW2 and one of the gripes was superior material and cut of Officers Uniforms. There were no Pinks and Greens for EM's just Dogshit Brown jacket and trousers. the Army Greens simplified the differences between EM and OFF uniforms. As well many Ike Jackets and Service coats were used by Garbagemen and painter for dirty work. It was felt the OD uniform had been degraded by such use.

Yeah, if you can't have the 1911 dress uniform, the pinks and greens are great.

The Whites only became Obsolete in the 90's they were optional summer wear in the south. horrid to keep clean and the enlisted sleeve insignia seemed to dissapear on them.

The Dogshit brown EM ervice dress has been mentioned time and again in Army times polls. But you have to realize the Uniforms are chosen by the Chief of Staff of the Army and the lackey No. 1- Sergeant Major of the Army. The Officers all want to be John Fcuking Wayne in Stetsons and Blues ala Hollywood, not even what was really worn. Look at the Plethora of Bull**** DOD Joint awards that outnumber regular Service/Valor awards- The DOD Joint meritorious service medal, c'mon? so you got that for reccomending the Jambalayass MRE flavor, big he-ro.....

Its a distraction from a fundamental lack of Strong Identity. Started with that stupid friggen Beret and continues today. the New ASU looks like something a Ugandan Tinpot would wear. The reason Joe was dissatisfied with the Class "A" was Army kept making it **** cheaper and cheaper materials. I remember being issued a Winter Worsted wool Class "A" that was freakin sharp when pressed and a Summer Lighterweight set. eventually there was so much plastic in that uniform it might as well have been a picnic tablecloth.

They took the Style out of the Overseas cap by making it a Mcdonalds fry cook cap stiff as a Board and no Branch Piping. My Dads were OD or Summer Khaki and had Style to them, fore and aft peak, crushed down in center. The Bus Driver cap lost its WWII style as well the rim becoming thick. The Chevrons, Service Stripes and Overseas service stripes all became smaller in 56 from the WWII versions. Compare a set of chevrons and you'll see it.

What do you think about reintroducing the white service cap to the current Class Bs?

+1. I remember seeing a DS bringing his ASUs to show us vs the Green Class As when we were getting ready to graduate BCT. Damn ASUs are even more horrid in person. I am gald we were one of the last cycles to get the Greens.

I wonder if it will change with the change of command... I mean there is no way that every Officer thinks that looks good. It's pretty obvious to everyone else it looks ****ing terrible.

I like the ASU more than the green Class A's. But I only wear a dress uniform about once a year.

    Doubtful...
The problem is once implemented you have the factories stop making the greens and there would be a shortage of them for years. Add to that the roasting the media would give to wasting money (though no one said anything about why it was so neccessary during 2 wars to switch dress Uniforms and the Now ACU, Multicam debacle. Who wants to grab the turd and say Yummy?

Atleast every soldier is wearing the same uniform. Over on my side, the CoS and his cadre are wearing their own ceremonial uniform! (JB Andrews cermony.)

We should get Hugo Boss to design our Army's uniforms.
